WoW Subliminal Messaging Hey guys, I've stumbled across something on World of Warcraft, and I've been trying to inform more people about it. Some people hear what I hear, and some people don't. It's really bothering me, and I don't know why it is. But either way, please have a look for yourself and, if you can, spread it around. YouTube - World of Warcraft Subliminal Messaging Thanks! Re: WoW Subliminal Messaging Uh, I hear the warcraft part and the give us part but meh probably just a coincidence because your thinking of it while your trying to listen... Or it could be true... |
Re: WoW Subliminal Messaging I dunno, when I first heard it I wasn't even looking for it. |
Re: WoW Subliminal Messaging Wow, who knew I'd be using my psychology degree at this job? First off, don't worry - subliminal messages don't work like that! The one study that really got the ball rolling (showing subliminal messages in a movie theater that supposedly increased purchases of food) turned out to be false. In fact, James Vicary (the tester) later admitted to lying about the whole thing. Since then it's stayed in the public consciousness out of fear, despite the fact that subliminal messages have never been shown to get people to do something they don't want to do. WoW encourages addictive behavior because of its gameplay and the player culture it's cultivated, not because of any subliminal messages hypnotizing you to keep grinding on boars for the rest of your life. For another, there's something in psychology called a 'confirmation bias' - when you're looking for something, you tend to find it. This is why there have been so many bogus claims of backwards/hidden messages in rock music; people want there to be something there or else they wouldn't be looking in the first place! Also there's the power of suggestion, meaning that once you put an idea in someone's head - 'omg look subliminal messages in WoW' - they're more likely to hear it than if you had said 'hey, listen to this video... do you hear anything weird?' Actually, asking them if they hear anything weird will make them more likely to answer 'yes,' but then they'll all invent their own description of what they hear. That said, there are hidden messages in the background in WoW, but you'd have to go to the throne room in the ruins of Lordaeron. If you wait long enough you can hear dialogue from the Warcraft 3 scene where Arthas 'succeeds' his father! |
Re: WoW Subliminal Messaging That's pretty cool! I'm not sure what I should have called it then. Possible attempt? *shrug* One thing though, Quote:

Re: WoW Subliminal Messaging Honestly I think you're hearing things, but that's just me. It all comes down to how human beings create meaning, and how our minds 'fill in the gaps' to make sense out of things even when there's no message there. And then once you think you heard it, the power of suggestion will influence you into thinking you heard it, and then the feedback loop is in full force... it's all interesting stuff really. Gotta be careful though - I'll be the first to admit that I've convinced myself of something and later found out it was all just me BSing myself! I listened to it a couple times without looking at the screen and I heard everything from "joe you're wonderful" to "give us the one old ball", but not what you heard. You have to understand, every time someone has ever tried to show me one of these things it always turned out afterwards to be a hoax or just wishful thinking, so now I'm pretty skeptical. In fact until someone at Blizzard admits it or I get at least a couple experts in sound editing willing to testify in a court of law that Blizzard has embedded subliminal messages into the spirit healer sound loop I don't think I'm going to believe someone just because they swear they can hear something I can't. However if someone does offer proof I'll gladly admit I was wrong! |
Re: WoW Subliminal Messaging I don't know I've heard nothing but in-game audio. I don't believe in subliminal messages or their effect on people nor mind control for that matter. I'm not saying they are not trying I'm just saying one must be careful what one dwells on for that is what makes it work. |
Re: WoW Subliminal Messaging I hear a difference in the voice! Some dude that is probably 13-19 years old and edited the video! If not , this is some crazy shit!!! I dont know if the real ghosts are on video's but they do exist... Just like this , i dont know a 100% sure but i do know that if some1 uses some crazy shit hypnotize shit , you need to hear it!!! Half of your post didn't make sense. What differences in the voice do you hear? I don't hear any difference. Go ingame and tell me if you hear it or not. Why are you taking a crack at my age? You sound like you're 13-19, or probably 11-19 so I don't really understand that bit either? Do you actually know what that is? That's a spirit healer, it's part of the game. It's not there because I think it's.. there because I'm doing drugs.. yeah I really didn't understand what you were saying there either. I don't get why you said it's fake though. Why would you think it's fake? Like I said go ingame, stand next to the spirit healer for 1 minute and tell me you don't hear that exact passage. |
Re: WoW Subliminal Messaging I cant believe i just stumbled on this post. I was JUST (about 5 minutes ago) talking to my brother about how i was hearing something about world of warcraft being said when i was a ghost, i'm glad to know its not just me hearing this ^_^ |
