Here's what I did, it worked fairly well.
From level 1-50 I mostly bought things in the auction house and resold for more. On my server this worked well with wool, silk and linen. Every once in a while you might find an epic or rare item which you can buy below it's average prize (check thottbot and allakhazam for those).
From level 50-60 I got most of my money from Large Rope Nets which drop from Devias trappers in Westfall and selling discombobulator-rays (engineering-item). Of course this works best on pvp-servers.
From level 40 on you can farm turtles, with a bit of luck you will find golden pearls which sell for at least 20G a piece. If you can skin those turtles and sell their leather and scales it's even better.

I do the same, just yesterday someone was selling an epic shield for 40g I bought it and immediatly resold it for 60. I sell stacks of herbs, with plaguebloom and sungrass I can make around 8 to 10g a stack. Transmute arcanite can make me up to 5g. If all else fails I just solo cathedral about 30 times. The high inquisiter usually drops around 3 unsoulbound greens and the occassional blue.

I sell essence of water for 10g each, they drop from the water things in Felwood, I forget what they're called.

Farm Dragon Whelps in Dustwallow Marsh.

I was level 39, halfway to 40, and had no money for my mount. I was questing in Dustwallow Marsh, a quest to kill Dragon Whelps. My fourth Dragon Whelp dropped an item called 'Dark Whelpling' (Pet that follows you, it can't do anything). Sold it on AH for 150g.

Made my day.

They have a small dropchance, though, but mostly they're on AH for 100-200 gold. At least on my server.

I usually just buy as little as possible and sell as much as possible. No realy techniques

Another suggestion; if you want to be a money-machine, get skinning and mining and sell everything on AH. I promise you you'll get loads. A guildie of mine, at the same level as me (58), can afford his epic mount now. Even though it's his second character, and he has experience, it still gets you lotta money. Then at level 60 you can trade skinning for engineering/blacksmithing, or trade mining for leatherworking. Or just kill both professions.

lol easiest way to get gold..i dont do this though friend does(dishonorable ><) go to ebay an type in world of warcraft gold >< so stupid...KILL ALL FARMERS...that sell there gold

mining iron is always in demand and i put about 80 bars up and they all sold made about 50g from selling, iron and mithril on the AH as well as some blacksmithing items im lvl 38 and have money for a mount also been doing SM with guildes looking for BOE drops that sell good

Well I did Leatherworking and Skinning, and Ive got my leatherworking skill up pretty good and dont want to blow it down after all my effort Ive put in. Im only 26 at the moment, so what would anyone suggest for earning as much money as possible?
