Hmm... How do people find these threads and why are we so careful with thread titles, well look at the main page at www.filefront.com

Ah I had to look in a dictionary for "guantlet" - so now I see that you are talking about "Schiller's Handschuh".

Si, Iam aleways ready for a clan war - Id got nice talking with Nihilio some time ago about it and he wanted to ask his EL mates! He is nice guy and doesnt really cares about disputes but likes taunting and bitching sometimes as well as me.:)
We didnt meet again so I dont know wheather he asked about it in EL-forum!?
The question is also: Is EL-clan existenet anymore?
Just open another thread to discuss when and where and WWE is ready to kick your asses.

I see it in the opposite way. As more dirty a thread is as more people come to read it and as more they like to be part of it. IMO even AZH has a lot fun with us here and maybe he had never tried out WildWest if we were talking about flowers and love only. :)
See nobody would cares about Michael Jackson anymore but if there come out dirty things everybody is intersted.

Yeah but that's excitement in someone else's life not their own. People like to watch trouble as long as it is someone else's.

From Lloyd W. Brown:"What is the origin of the phrase to run the gauntlet?"

It originated in the 17th century, at which time the Germans adopted a sort of military punishment from the Swedes in which a man was stripped to the waist and made to run between two rows of soldiers, who struck him with sticks or knotted ropes. The passage through which he ran was a gatloppe in Swedish, translated to gantlope in German. It became gantelope in English. This procedure was used as civilian punishment in Colonial America where it was spelled gantlet or gauntlet. The word came to be pronounced and spelled thus by contamination from gauntlet "a glove worn as part of medieval armor".

The phrase throw down the gauntlet, which means "to challenge", comes from the medieval practice of throwing one's glove down in front of one's opponent to challenge him. That phrase dates from the mid 16th century. This word is Germanic in origin, coming from French gantelet, the diminutive form of gant. One source suggests that the word may be related to Old English windan "to wind", the final d having changed to a t in the period of a single Indo-European language.
