IMO a bad idea because only half the players read GF. Moreover you risk to exclude people from playing the game including yourself. IMO that's not good for the community in generel.

What you folks don't understand is we have control of the game. I know that we can insert a warning even in game, possibly even be able to update it remotely so that when ANY player fires up Wildwest they will get a warning notice that the members of Both clans, their servers, Teamspeak, and forums are bad places. We could possibly even make a popup screen that would warn them when they clicked on your server (and I believe we could keep it updated if you tried to change anything) So that when anyone met a member of either clan they would know it was full of bad eggs. This would only be a minor extention of the work Queeg's been doing for the game.

Like I said, the actions of members of a clan reflect on the entire clan. So if you insist on continuing this vain, you'll be publicly and officially outed as undesirables in the community.

I've now wasted 2 hours that I desparately need gearing up for a big sifi convention, yet again babysitting a bunch of pathetic adults. I hope that you folks are satisfied.

Dragon you can't control the traffic on any servers.

I don't think you would like to distribute a new version every time a clan change server IP.

You cannot stop people playing the current version. Neither in 2006.

If you want to do a kind of masterserver traffic then you just risk to make a much more unstable system with lots of securityholes.

My advice is to let the clans solve the conflict themself and don't allow them to arguing in GF like you said you will not tolerate. Don't know why this thread was allowed to continue like the taunting in other threads.

1st. Let's drop the whole thing about blocking out specific servers in the game browser. That's not going to happen. It wouldn't solve the problem and regardless of the details of implementation. We're not going there.

Welcome back long time no see (here)!!!! I think you'll admit that things have been going more smoothly here lately. Even before Dragon took on his new role. We've been keeping a much tighter grip on the fights and inflamatory statements when they start up.

Now, as far as this thread goes, for the most part, people have been keeping their cool. This is the longest one of these threads has gone with people speaking rationally. I want to thank you for that.

This will piss Bong and skins off further but BillyBobb thank you for remaining calm throughout the entire thread. You've done admirably. I practicaly fell out of my chair when I read this and it was a reasonable, relaxed and rational response. Again, Thanks.

Will you all knock it off about this banning crap. You'd think we banned people every day. In all of last year, you can practicly count on one hand the number of people we've banned from this forum. Two of those people started posts saying "You can go ahead and ban me but". Another makes a living being banned from servers and forums.

That's right, you are wrong on that one. Why do you think we have so many moderators and AhZ and dread have special threads in the staff forums in order to keep this lot in line. This forum is a blessing and a curse on GF. We have probably the most dedicated, passionate bunch of people on the whole site. However, you guys really know how to piss each other off.

Yep. That happens a lot with siblings. One kid will do little teasing, out of sight of the parents. It'll be nothing to bad, but enough to drive the other to total distraction. Then that poor kid will scream and punch and cry till they are the one that the parent gets really annoyed with or the one the parent punishes. It's a good tactic. And it works!

After the New Years holiday, we got an email from a player saying you were flipping out about us. Accusing one us of making racial statments in front of AhZ and Gizmo and slandering you because of your last name, and going back to your theory of a year ago that Hewster is actually WildDK trying to drum up action by sparking contraversy.

You spent three hours attacking some poor noob player who was playing poorly enough for you to think he was me. He wasn't. The first thing you said when you rejoined the server and started yelling at everyone was, "I can't get in". That prompted us to look at the emails where we sent out the password for the first and only test session so far in 2005. We found your name wasn't on the list of final testers. We are all guessing that this is why you are angry.

Yes, we divided the testers into two groups. Those who had caught significant issues and showed up regularly and those who rarely showed up for testing. We want to have some very precise tests in this last couple rounds and we are releasing some early news to the smaller set beta testers. Our full testers list was too large to manage and needed to be trimmed. It turns out your name was not in either group. Dragon caught that our "before" and "after" count did not add up but couldn't identify which name fell through the cracks. It turns out it was yours.

I agree with most of what you are saying here but not with what you are implying. Hewster <> WildDK, Dragon has several names that he has posted here. Iggy and Hewster each have one other name that they occasionally play under to join a match objectively. I play only under Queeg. Feel free to YaWN my name and follow the two GUIDs it shows I've played under. I am who I am. You can take it or leave it. There is no area 51 conspiracy with the devteam joining servers under 300 different names just to cause trouble.

I do take your point, if it was one you were making, about the teasing hints I gave regarding the new maps under development and the cloak and dagger around them. I'll not mention them again here. Frankly, I was in a weird mood that day and was happy to be able to leak a couple screen shots. The intrigue and fun turned annoying to the readers when no one wanted to play along and tease out more information. It didn't quite work how I'd intended.

You obviously know what is going on. Just ask them to stop. We don't need or even want or care who it is. The development team isn't going to be able to do anything with a name or even an email address anyway. You're a friend of theirs, just ask them to stop goofing off and play the WildWest not the game that's been made around the game.

You're right that both groups have made it absolutely impossible to play WW each other. Both clans are caught up in some other game that doesn't have a name or rules anymore... Frankly, I don't know that it can or will end. How do you end a war that has been going on for years... It sure doesn't give much hope for the future of the Palestinians and Israelis does it...

OK - I'm off... I was up till 4am last night working on the new launching program for 1.6 and I wanted to get more done on it tonight. Yes, I put 6 hours in WW development last night and 3 the night before and 4 the night before that. All while working a paying job and maintaining sanity here and with GF in general. And not giving up any time with my wife and four kids. So forgive me if I'm a bit cross tonight.

What are you discussing about here? FortBravo is up since about 1 month and there was good gaming all the time.
Maybe one reason for these good games is that you can say what you want there so long you dont spoil the current game. (If the currently majority of players there doesnt like another one then they might kick him of course)
Although I dont do the EL-naming thing by myself it doesnt cares me like it dont cares me if you are using a names like WWE-sucks-d**k or Rudi=cheater.
So come to Fort Bravo, enjoy gaming - inclusive swearing and taunting like you want.
If you dont like it stay away. If you want not to see the server in ASE then configure you server-filter!

I deleted that post as soon as I read it. Not to hide it but because it was just plain wrong.

We don't control the auth server, it is the same server that controls all of RtCW. Besides that's part of RtCW's central code not part of what is modifiable.

So we aren't doing any such thing. Even if we could, I wouldn't go for it and more importantly neither would Hewster. Dragon was a bit excited at the time...

because the reputation of the mod pretty much stands and fall with the community, this comunity. when people here act as they do, the mod is put in some very bad light. why should any new players download WW when they see the established community act like spoiled boys with toys (no offense to the female players). this place scares people away; and not just potential WW players, older players begin to think too....

i know this 'can't we just be friend and get along thingy' is pretty much dead, but dammit, think of how you make it look and you make yourself look!

I agree 100% with Stop the Fighting -- Play the Game - what AzH said had more truth then most posts ive ever read in this forum

Our WW Section makes a impression on GF.com - people see it and either think oh my god why is this even on gf.com and sometimes they see it and think WOW i should try this mod it looks great -- like AzH said its a Godsend to GF.com and WW and it can be a Downfall to GF and WW - also think of the players that come to GF.com just to the WW section -- when those players pack up and leave - they are NOT just leaving the Forums They are Leaving GF.com and WW Mod

That is a Downfall for BOTH WW Mod and GF - which i rather see Rise to the top of their markets and not fall down the ladder Slowly

and @ Hewster -- Given the mod rights are yours and kevins - it is your decision and all i can do is plead that you not allow the bickering of 2 clans cause you to not release 1.6 -- 1.6 will be absoluetly brilliant and given the man hrs put into NOT ONLY by you and Kevin - but also by Beta Testers -- these testers are not gonna be happy with denying the release of 1.6 after they spent all the time testing it - atleast i am assuming they wouldnt be happy with it

Nice post Queeg :). hmm but I still wondering why the use of some teasing names can be such a big problem that passde has to complain here in GF and afterwards the release 1.6 depends of that. As Rudi says people can do whatever they want as long they don't spoil the current game, so when somebody logon as rudi-cheater and he doesn't kick them don't you think that's a nice admin?. As I understand it Rudi is/was banned at Rockridge to the end but Rudi dosn't ban the admin that server even the admin that server banned him and also accuse him cheating. So it is good to play at FB and the admin is very nice. Let people use the names they want but stop people whining and taunting here in GF. As PA said wwe doesn't start the conflickt-threads here in GF. This thread was started by passde because of some stupid names. The names was caused by - yes again taunting posting from el squint. No matter dk is member of wwe or not then I know he has been and I know it is taunting when squint post what he does. Everybody says don't taunt on the ww servers but apperantly it is okay to do it here or what? So if you see some stupid name on a server just forget about it. It is just a game and some stupid names. But don't expect no pay back eventhough it is just for fun.

I like gaming where the talking is free and no restriction. Of course none of us like spammers and people doing racial etc statements. I'm sure such people will be excluded to be outside the room for a while.

No its not. That's why when threads like this start up we usually squash them right away. The forum rules demand a civil attitude in posts regarding the players and other forum members.

For whatever reason, this thread got left open. We try to allow people who are very upset a chance to recover themselves and express their issues. Sometimes that means the rules get bent a little. In this case, I think everyone needed a chance to vent. So, I don't expect this thread to remain for much longer. We'll probably kill it later in the day. Pretty much everyone has had a chance to have their say and get their points across. Leaving it here will only keep the issue burning. At least that's what I'm thinkin' right now.


(BTW. Two quotes that I'd attributed to bong, at the end, were actually skins. I've fixed them now. Sorry Bong.)

:) Iam glad to hear that that onliest things Iam afraid about in 1.6 are:
1. volley heashot gibs - means IMO less funny long long doctors vs doctors fights :(
2. the stronger pain animations - which are not good for my kind of aiming :(
3. the waeker gatling- which makes good attackers tactic in beach, town and BattleCreek superfluous whic is more atractive for noobs but not for regular players!

I wondered since a while why dragon was threaten us with "new kind of player identification/authorization" and stuff several times .
Dragon, as I to got to know you 1 year ago you were just a nice person who was intersted about scripting, technical stuff and sometimes politcal disputes (like me) but the actually threatening things and lawman stuff dont matches to IMO - you dont need this!

Si, Iam aleways ready for a clan war - Id got nice talking with Nihilio some time ago about it and he wanted to ask his EL mates! He is nice guy and doesnt really cares about disputes but likes taunting and bitching sometimes as well as me.:)

I guess you are not more out of it creating a new server with the same banlist as rockridge. A banlist I understand you give out to whoever wants it!

I don't know why deskin is banned but I guess that it is because he teamkilled some weeks ago. You don't know if Rudi banned him or it was a sub admins or...Neither do I. What I found out is that the admin at FB is nice and I then suggested deskin to write a mail to him and perhaps that could solve the problem.

Rudi I really like CoD server and we have many good games that server. So people come join if you want to kick a noob like me ..

Hmm somebody told me that you gave EL ringo that banlist becuase it seems like he has the same person on it? hmm perhaps I'm wrong. Bans are all over this community lol.

About the server I saw you will create a new server for the clan you are starting.
