| Home | Ultramarines The Movie For the first time, Games Workshop’s globally renowned Warhammer 40,000 universe is to be realised in a feature-length movie on DVD. Ultramarines is a 70-minute sci-fi thriller that will use CGI and state-of-the-art animation production techniques. Games Workshop is delighted to be working with UK-based production company Codex Pictures, who have the momentous task of bringing the Warhammer 40,000 universe to the screen. Commenting on the news, Erik Mogensen, Licensing and Acquired Rights Manager for Games Workshop, said, “Over the years, we have been approached again and again by all sorts of producers and film companies wanting to take our intellectual property to the screen. We have always believed that, in the right hands, the stories, themes and characters from the Warhammer 40,000 universe would lend themselves perfectly to the movie genre. We’re working closely with the talented team at Codex Pictures, who have an excellent understanding of the Warhammer 40,000 intellectual property and an inspired vision for the movie. We can’t wait to see our universe come to life on-screen.” “We’re hugely honoured to be making Ultramarines,” said a spokesman for Codex Pictures. “It’s taken a lot of research and development to get to this stage – and it’s such an exciting challenge to be able to bring the depth and power of the Warhammer 40,000 universe to a brand new medium.” News of the production of a movie was unveiled at UK Games Day, the biggest event in the Games Workshop calendar, on Sunday, September 27 2009. let this thread be for Warhammer moive updates!

| Inquisitor looked like it needed a graphical upgrade and an acting upgrade from what I saw of it.

| Why does it have to be the Smurf Marines? Imperial fists, blood angels, black templars, salamanders, theres so many chapters that are more unique than them ![]() but still its about time! |

| Black Templar or Dark Angels would be cool to see a movie about.

| Wasn't the Inquisitor film fan made? I would have liked to see someone other than the Ultramarines but hey ho, a 40k film of any type is good enough. Hopefully it doesn't go the way of Bloodquest

| Well, a start is a start. Perhaps Codex Pictures thought that Ultramarines are unique but simple enough to introduce the whole W40K universe to the world of action theater, since a lot of people don't have a clue about any it. They are probably wanting to attract as many movie goers as possible and felt they were a good starting place. But when George Lucas decided to start with "A New Hope" it didn't mean that the others weren't ever to be made. Because of that film's success, how many millions became Star Wars fans who had never heard of the books? I'm just glad that W40K is getting some attention and I hope they do a good job on this film so that more can follow. And it better not be just a long series of sync kills!

Most likely the most popular Chapter for Space Marine players on Table top as well. The Ultramarines are a pre Heresy chapter, but were a legion at that time. You might be getting at that already but i'm not sure.
