Default Community Campaign (Dow 1)

I have a very vague idea in my head but i want to run it by some people before i actually start.

I was thinking that i could create a campaign story of sorts. People who are participating in the "campaign" gather once a week and fight on a map or Map(s) as a designated race depending on the story which wil eventually lead to one faction win in that particular campaign. Which ever side has the most wins that week pushes the enemy back and changes the stories direction for example:

-----------------------

Scenario: Ork have invade system X. the incoming space marines are preparing to push them back.

Outcome A: Space Marine chapter X has successfully pushed back the Ork invasion and has retaken territory X from them. During the fighting the ork warboss has been killed leaving the ork forces in shambles. The space marines now must take care of the remaing orks.etc

Or


Outcome B: The orks have crushed the Space Marines under there mighty waagh. Now the orks must take the fight to the space marine hq.etc

Special rules could be applied to keep it interesting.

Thoughts?

Sounds like a very interesting idea! I know that there are a lot of maps out there you could use, and I have a good number of them as well that I just haven't got around to posting. If you like I could send you a zip folder with a bunch of them that you could use however you wanted. Some of them are a bit off the wall, but they could spark some creative ideas or something.

I'll be up for this most certainly. You could use the Star Map idea we had awhile ago and conquer a System?

We tried to put restrictions in one of the last ones I did but it was not in any way easy to get the balance for races right. The only thing you could do would be to have no vehicles, transports no heavy weapons etc.

The only problem would be getting people involved, as you can see Kendall, there aren't many of us about these parts anymore.

For maps, couldn't we just use the maps from community mappacks 1 - 4 and get others if necessary?

Yes these are the only problem i have encountered - Lack of support

As fare as maps go ill pick and choose maps and with permission from the creater(s) and see what works

I was thinking way bigger than a signal system so we wouldn't have the SS effect or just cutting down the amount of race playable for each campaign.

So why not have the external map an outside image.
Not in game. Would definitely be far easier to manage. Also it might be good to make teams of races.

And for some engagements it might be good to just have one vs one others team vs team.

You could run in chapters so to speak. each chapter containing multiple fights.

And I might join as either Eldar or SOB. It really comes down to how my uni results end up. As in either good or bad ;~

starmap

Segmentum Pacificus has 13 Imperial worlds within it, that's a fair few games. You could have a points system say 1 for a Hive World 3 for a Forge etc and just keep a tally of who conquered what.

Will this be for SS or one of the other games?You've posted it in the vanilla area so I am hoping it's for that or DC at least.SS I don't play at anymore at all.

I think that SS might be the best bet as well, if you are going to use the Tyranid Mod with it. I actually haven't used it with DC but understand that they utilized some features that only SS provided to make some significant upgrades. I love playing SS Tyranid mod although in multiplayer have had a nasty sync error when the "heroes" condition was activated. Without it, though, we did play a lot of successful games. I will sure be interested to know when the gaming times are and if there is some way I can swing it would love to play. I can use most races but perhaps do my best as orks. Would you want a rogue band making trouble for the other teams of combatants sometime? Second to orks would be SM, then perhaps IG or Eldar.

Sorry about that, when I quickly glanced over your other post where you mentioned "1 for a Hive World" I immediately thought of Tyranids rather than anyone's recruiting world. I'm not that well versed in W40K lore and still play occasional DOW2 missions from the campaign, so my brain got thrown off track! I'm happy enough not involving the Nids since I don't find them an enjoyable race to actually play as.
