Community Campaign (Dow 1)

I made my first map last night - god, how do you guys do it?! It's painstakingly irritating and I can never find what I am looking for.

Anyway, if you want me to concentrate on the story then I could do that Kendall, that is no problem. Would you like me to write it all now and send it to you, or at least an overview of how I think the campaign should progress?

Do we want the forces of Fazael, as he is a mentioned character, as a playable or as an AI?

Do all races need to be written in? I can maybe see a problem with fitting in the likes of the Tau and Dark Eldar.

No only focus on Race mentioned as they are currently in this campaign - I'm giving you complete freedom on who to focus on..just make it interesting. Remember don't tell it from beginning to end initially as the player is the one who

And are we doing a hive planet or some a mix between jungle and city. We need to figure that out immediately. Ether or would be fine with me

Ok so far it's Traitor Imperial Guard, Chaos, Space Marines and Sisters of Battle?

Should I post up on the forum or send the start to you? It's up to you whether or not you want the peeps to see what's going on.

I would do it a mix of Hive and Jungle with some Chaos Taint thrown in for good measure. Snow maps bore me

Sounds like you are making great headway, there fellows! I about have it worked out so that it is very simple to have honor guard appear however far into the game as you please. It is easy to have them just suddenly appear, but I wanted to see if somehow I could make them "Deep Strike" in with drop pods to make it more interesting. It looks like it is possible but with my limited knowledge of this it may take a bit more tinkering. Do you think it is worth it, and would we want it for every race?

Making maps does take a lot of getting used to. There are a number of shortcuts that you learn over time, but more than anything it just takes a lot of time and work. I happen to enjoy the creative nature of it and that has let me make a lot of them, but often the finishing details and fine tuning just takes a lot of determination.

Not only do i want it to be good story and mechanic wise - i also want ti to be ascetically pleasing to. I figure the more we do the better it will become....

Wow, you did all that in Photoshop? You're pretty good! Something like that could be converted into a sky texture fairly easily and would look great for maps where you are fighting over small planets and moons with a space background. If that would fit into the campaign, I say we go for it! The thing with a sky texture is that it needs to be specific dimensions, a long rectangle, 1024 x 256. The far left and right edges need to mesh so that it makes a loop, and the extreme top and bottom need to be blurred or empty so that they don't get too badly distorted. If you came up with one, I would be happy to do the conversion to RSH / WHM! If we get a good one I'd also like to update the black sky we left in Worlds at War, something I've been thinking about for a while now.

Here is A Wip of a meta map. As you can see it is very unfinished and i am guessing my way threw this. The fact that it looks like the dark crusade was completely unintentional. I might shift it so it dosen;t look like a copy
