Dawn of War Files - Hall of Fame

Hi guys, Sl4sh here from DoWfiles.com.

With the release date of Dawn of War 2 getting closer and closer, we at DoWfiles thought that we should create a "Dawn of War Hall of Fame" showcasing the best files that the community has created throughout DoW's lifespan from everything like maps to mods that we currently have to offer - most of which are hosted by us! We need YOUR help with this, I am asking you fine people of Filefront to nominate the best of file of time that you think deserves to be showcased in our Hall of Fame section. Please choose one file for each of the following categories: modifications, maps, B&B sets, Misc. You can browse through our files HERE.

Rules:
- Add you choice into the comments section of this news post.
- Only 1 submission per member, so choose wisely.
- Files can be from anytime and any one of the DoW games.
- Choose a file for the following categories: Mods, Maps, B&B sets, Misc.

Once we have the submission from you guys, I will post some polls and you will be able to vote for the top 10-15 files that you feel need to be in the DoW Hall Of Fame.

Remember to spread the word as we need the whole DoW community to participate!

best mod i've played is a toss up between the dow steel legion, SS enhanced and SS survival but i think i will have to go for..erm

SoulStorm Enhanced Mod because of the sheer amount of excellent new models created for it namely the Tau Human aux's who just kick ass + you get about 20 to a squad.
I love Tau, I love the Guard so good times with them both combined

and i havn't yet had any of the maps or banners so thats my one and only choice of choices

the best mod ive played was the tau mod for winter assault, pity tau came out in dark cruasde rather than soulstorm they could of made it so much better

Thanks, Sl4sh, I think this is a great idea. This is tough, though, since I like both mods and maps! I would have to opt for the Tyranid Mod (SS is what I'm using now) since the guys have done such a great job starting completely from scratch, and it is such a unique contribution to the game. Say, if not a lot of others post can I opt for my favorite map as well?

Firestorm Over Kronus is awesome, its not done yet but it will be. I like how it makes the game more balanced, and all the units it introduces. Plus it makes the game not become a spam fest like normal DoW, for example, a Baneblade costs a ridiculous amount of requisition, which even at T4 is hard to make, a Marine squad costs 300 REQ so you won't have like a swarm of them so fast. Plus they have the FO chart, meaning no 20 space marine squads, more like 6 at most.

And to reduce even more spamming, they inserted taxes so players don't go insane and build a load of things fast (there's also a limit of one per production building on most races).

I play that mod for maps, TTRU is for fun as no offense, but balance didn't seem to be much of an issue, but it was fun.

DH+WH DH had awesome voices and models, recently I have understood something, in order for a DH army to function properly you have to storm troops, there special weapons are priceless also, the LRC can transport a dreadnought, so If I put a dreadnought in it then in the telpatha I have just deepstriked two vehicles! WH has the best models ever, period, they look like if they had a few touch-ups they could be in DoW2. However I don't like how the army painter doesn't work .

Great, for my favorite map I would have to say the one I think stands out high above the rest is Fuggles' "Kronus" map which is about the equivalent of the whole campaign in itself.

I'm sad to not see more activity in this thread since I think it is a great idea, but now that it is off the "new" list I'm concerned that it might not go much farther. I have a few thoughts that could help towards getting more people excited about this, and could have the nice side effect of letting people get familiar with a number of maps they may have never heard about. It would basically be to separate the maps and mods into different categories and draw light to each one at a time. It would kind of be like the weekly poll, and possibly could be done through that venue.

For instance "Which 4-8 player chokepoint map do vote for the Hall of Fame?" and then list the top 12 or so of that category that had the most downloads / higest ratings. I would be happy to suggest a number of categories that could be used, to help compare "apples with apples". Whatever comes of it, I appreciate your efforts since there are a lot of great deveolpers who should get recognition and it will help the files get broader use!
