More races isn't always better, it sometimes just makes the game unbalanced. IG can't possibly stand up to the Space marines, half of them will just surrender without a commissar.
That is not entirely true. It strongly depends on which guard you are talking about. For instance the Guardsmen of Cadia are known to charge demons head on.

That is not true at all. Guardsmen are just normal, human soldiers. nothing more. nothing less. You don't see US army running away in a fire fight from because there is no commissar there. The Russians weren't cowardly when the commissars weren't there, they just didn't do as many suicide charges.
but wraith, is right in that it largely depends on how they are trained. for example, the catachans, vostroyans, cadians, and others are very resilient in battle, where as more untrained IG regiments that don't see that much action tend to be less strong of heart. (much like Iraq's military)
I suggest you look into other sources of the IG as opposed to the 'pop' version of the IG that relic gives. Go read some IG books (I recommend Guant's ghosts)
and as for more races just makes things unbalanced. Thats not true. Relic knows perfectly well how to balance a race, its just that when an expansion comes out, Relic just likes to make the new races more powerful so that it will sell better. But if Relic made more races at once, the problem would be solved.
^Actually DOW is very balanced for the amount of races it has. Yet still, there are times when one race is vastly superior to the others. For instance DOW vannilla and eldar domination (due to high specialisation) etc.
I have to disagree, I absolutely love the fact there are so many different teams to choose from, I think that's what make DOW stand out amongst other strategy games, I love the diversity and the fact that every single battle really can be different, different styles of teams for different players playing styles. Besides, there are millions of warhammer collectors round the globe, each with different favorite races, imagine having a game you love, but not being able to play the team you want ? Especially after having 9 races in DOW if in DOW 2 they just make 4 teams and leave it at that it'd suck. Like said before, different races = different tastes/styles satisfied = more interesting battles = happier masses.

I'm trying to imagine what I would do If my world came under invasion by Chaos/Orks/Nids/Crons/Tau/Eldar/Dark Eldar. At first I thought there would be no way in hell I'd go up against a BloodThirster, and that yeah, I'd run.
But after thinking about it more, where would I go? Everything and everyone I know would be destroyed within hours. So I think I'd be fueled on anger and a WTF mentality that would push me to fix bayonets and charge a carnifex.
So yeah, even though you know your going to die horrible, why wouldn't you?

that and also going back to earlier what I said about the differences in training. Some regiments are trained to fight certain armies (ie orks, nids, chaos) and so learn to cope with the horrors they face. Also keep in mind that they would have been raised in a completely different life style that you. As you probably live in very comfortable conditions (compared to what our race used to go through) and didn't have to worry about your survival on a daily bases. Most guardsmen on the other hand have faced terrible things their whole life.
your forgetting that why would relic and the other developers steer attention away from soulstorm a few days/weeks after its release? I have a feeling its a competition of some description but then again i am hoping it is the confirmation of the legend of DOW2!
Something occurred to me today.. What if this is PCgamers April fools prank?
That would suck beyond belief.
Anyway, what would happen if they made a first person shooter. Maybe, you're a gk/sm/ig haveing to fight deamons? Just been thinking about it.
Also they wouldn't have to make a completly different game in order to play space missons. i.e Starwars Battle front. You just chose a space map and you would atoumaticly be placed with new units new objectives etc.
