Because in TT most of their units can teleport into battle or teleport around the battlefield. Also teleportation makes up for their slow movement speed.
Ok, can you then explain how they would be so much cheaper? I thought the Necrons were just beginning to awaken, thus they only have so many warriors to expend. This would make Necrons expensive, no? My point is if they're going to have greater units they should pay a greater price. It would also make sense for the Resurrection Orb to cost power, as even the C'tan need to drink suns or they will begin to wither.

Also, it sounds to me like Necrons are unfair in TT also, and they didn't do anything about it for DC.

necrosn arnt unfair in TT, just depends on the skill level of the players, an example is I started blood angels (my 6th army as i have trouble sticking to one lol) and with a single squad of assualt marines with chappy i wiped out 2 warrior squads loosing a single huy, then killed the lord but lost my chappy (sad face) i forced him to fade out as he had 2 monoliths and a decked out nec lord so it was fairly easy to beet him

You may say, it is impossible for a man to become like the Machine. And I would reply, that only the smallest mind strives to comprehend its limits.

Their cheaper ya true. But each unit you make takes longer to produce then the one before it. Where your first unit may take 30secs the second will take 40, third 50, fourth 60, fifth 1 minute. I don't know if that is the real time stagger but I know for damn sure each consecutive unit takes considerably longer to produce. That would be my guess for evening out their 'cheap price tag'.

Uh unless I'm mistaken necrons don't take longer to produce on the ammount of units out.
This holds true only for generators.

Instead a necron merely reduces the time it takes to make a unit via listening posts.
I.e. that's why one of the main tactics when fighting necron is denying him lp's considering their double role.

You guys seem to complain alot about Necrons in DC/SS just simply because you cant beat them or hate the fact they can use rez orb.

Let me put it to you lot this way.
Necrons are the biggest threat (followed by Tyranids) to the imperium of man. Why? Because their weapons and technology makes the imperium of mans weapons look like out-of-date child toys.
They arn't overpowered down to the single fact they are generally extremely slow. They make up for this through DPS. If your struggleing here's a tip. Defense comes first aginste Necron AI. Forget about offense (Especially with TAU, they take alot of resources).
Plus Necrons have another weakness... Melee... Their attacks may blast your troops back but their attacks are extremely slow using a strong melee unit will easily destory a necron warrior squad. They also lack anti-armour units and the immortalers are extremely weak to ranged and close combat weapons.
Another idea is using TAU. If you manage to defend your base and get a decent number of fire warriors you can easily kill necrons before they get close. Their also slow at standing up so it's a good idea to use explosive weapons.

Not to mention they require CP's in order to get an army up.

*cough* tau.
if I were you I wouldn't recommend beating a beatable yet different race with one that has some of the most glaring imbalances in the game.
As to defence against necrons?
No fecking way.
The problem with necrons is that they are relatively weak until they amass a critical mass of warriors (or flayed ones in a mirror).
So during the period of them having 0-3 squads of warriors you have to be knocking down at him harassing, gun-running at scarabs and doing your best to deny him listening posts and a core.

Generally a necron will try to repeat your harassment with his lord probably going after your generators.

And as to tau taking a lot of resources. Run the math - 70 req for FW, come from a cheap rax, most punishing unit in game
Just compare them to dark reapers. Which come out a tad later, have less DPS and less range and a smaller squad size. Admittedly they get fleet of foot, but the upgrade costs power.

Maybe it's my comp but I do notice that the more of one unit on the field the longer that unit takes to produce. Again it may be my comp is being slowed down.

Aye the generators are the key to the 'crons the more you have the faster you can produce units.

I never noticed the time reduction aspect of the LPs. Than again I haven't played 'crons in DC for quite some time.

Guys. Whats the big deal here? The easiest way to defeat necrons is to simply capture LP's. Thats it. How bloody hard is that to do? Weak scarabs vs fast attack units. What I do is get speeders\vypers\wartrakks\devilfish\sentinels\ or any fast vehicle and quickly rush towards the other end of the map denying the scarbs LP's. At that time the 'crons have acess only to warriors and warriors don't do much damage to vehicles and since you're denying them LP's they wont be able to tech up so if you can continue denying them LP's you'll have to deal with only 2-3 squads of warriors all game. And I did this for 1 hour with just 3 sentinels and I was able to amass a large army to pwn the fuck outta the 'crons. And also the more units the 'crons have on the field the slower they produce.

A pen is mightier then the sword........although it outta be a really huge pen.

And one day I'm going to snap and kill you all with said pen.....unless you have a pencil...

^Careful there.
Trust me you won't be getting those light veh's very easily against a good player.
Because you'll have a lord in your base picking of builders (especially deadly to chaos) and going for your gens.

There's a few ways to defend them though.
A) The same thing as against old vespids. Put two gens just on the edge of a building and have a 99% completed minefield behind them.
If the lord comes quickly finish the minefield. If he doesn't by the third minute mark delete it to regain resources.

And while I agree that LP's and scarabs are the necrons biggest liability, waiting for vehicles to jump on them takes too long. Your first combat squad should go directly there and if possible decap at least one, 2 points.
If tau, keep denying him the points with stealthsuits from the beginning.

So to take a look at necrons and Lp's

Unless I'm mistaken you need 5 lp's to get full build speed and full cap.
so keeping a nec at around 1 point should be feasible. Just pray you won't automatch on emerald river, since the map is just way too fecking big.
