a) two squads to watch over a body.
b) another entire base.

I don't know your skill level but seriously comp necrons not that hard to take down even on insane. Orks over power, SM out plazma, IG out man, Eldar out move, and Tau out gun All races have a strength they can use to exploit an enemy weakness so stop please with the whining about the necron lord seriously he is not that hard to face turret spam when he is dead and when he first jumps over just get a quick close range attacker to face him Really necrons are not that hard!!!!

ps: this is how long it takes me to take down a necron on insane with the races i use
sm 7 mins use lots of plazma
ig 10 min build lots of men the move in with sentinentals
tau 8 mins or 5 mins depends either fire warrior spam then move in with harvenger or spam lots and lots of stealth suits

well i personally dont like to spam units so all those options are out for me. when you spam then its not that fun. no tactics.

Necron lord always camps in my base and does exactly what op said. When he revives hes in my base so it happens constantly. But the worst thing? when you almost kill the him and he transforms into the immortal god Night bringer who cannot i mean cannot die. Ive had him down to 100 health then he turns and with one hit gets a ton of hp back, Even with 50+ chaos space marines , many many rocket turrets , rhino , chaos sorc, the bloodthirster and Daemon Prince he still WOULDNT DIE. So then after a bit he reverts to normal form and eventually dies. Only to do it again 10 mins later.

** and oh yes my blood thirster actually died in that fight. Couldn't bielive such a powerful being with so many units to support could lose pissed me off.

yea but the ai can be stupid. i think i said this earlier in the thread but i cant remember nor do i want to check. i was once playing as the SM and the lord got into my base. he then turned to the nightbringer and started attacking my hq. i just repaired it and once he turned back he still attacked it and a SM squad killed him.
