I really do not think larger maps are required, since the really big maps even now are more or less very underused, plainly because they are just too big.

Also you can create these new terrains syou speak off
Blood pack--why would you need a copy of the imperial guard, that's even more of a copy than csm to smurfs.

Make Vehicles stay destroyed on the battlefield like infantry units.

and this would also prove problematic, since vehicles would have to block terrain to make it look nice and well it would just clog.

Me I'm really looking forward to the essence engine.

The current DoW doesn't really need huge maps but when you throw in aircraft, larger armies, and titans you'll need the extra space just so you don't get clogged. And yes I forgot AI, can't have your legions getting stuck on a tree and get to shot to death by a single IG heaby weapons team.

I think the ultimate dow would be a more custumizable races much like the tau, you can make choices on which units to make, but not all.

you could have the chaos follow different gods such as khorne or nurgle

eldar could go to the light side or become dark eldar

imperial guards could stay the same or change into different legions

space marines could change to different chapters

all this could be accomplished by incorparating a series of tech tree
modifications; building a different set of buildings. Tyranids would have to be in there as well as including air for support roles such as dropships, bombers, fighters for air defense; but that is all. Larger maps would be needed as said before if all this was incorparated especially with the air and the scale of tyranid armies.

Customization would be cool. Like in the tabletop every chapter has it's own playing style and unit lists so DoW2 should have more personal customization.
Also before starting a skirmish or a multiplayer game should be and option to make army lists of avalible units to build, i.e. no Tier 3 untis or Terminators etc.
Cutomizable heroes like in Warcraft 3 would be nice, like besides upgrades heroes get to use their powers by gaining experience.

I think that with fire warrior they were going more for an 'unreal' style game. But Fire warrior wasnt a good game they didnt spend a lot of time on developing it either, i think I read somewhere that fire warrior was played off of another engine. Im not sure if thats true, it wouldnt surprise though. But if they were to try agian using all the latest equipment, developing the best graphics, basically coming out with a revolutionary new system, like they did with Dawn of war, they would make a fantastic game.

Actually reinhardt most of the zines that rated firewarrior labeled it"quake in 40k garb" And I think I know now why It utterly bombed:
1. Nobody wanted to play as a tau in the first place
2. The game engine was quite good its the setting that made it look boring, Imperial planets seem to have one or only two base color : dab brown.grey or some amalgamation of these more planets to wander of to might have made it more interesting.
3. I don't think It was squad based enough requiring you to have good fps skills.
3. And the Tau are just a boring race they are Upstarts In the 40k universe nothing to loose everything to gain..Boooring!!!
4. And Cmon It wouldv'e been better If you started out as a conscript rising to the ranks of kasykin sargeant.
5. The missions where run of the mill missions done to death in fps games before
