A Few Important Notes

Ok, everyone who is part of the DoW community, and posts within the DoWForums, has a duty to read and understand this thread. Those of you that choose to ignore it, or don’t take it in, may find yourself banned for neglecting what has been said here.

To start, I am getting sick and tired of logging onto the forums to moderate it, only to find people doing what they please, and going against every single rule that we have.

Spamming / Post Bumping: You all know (or at least should know) what Spamming & Bumping is. Spamming is pretty basic stuff, typing random bullshit into a reply box, and hitting the “post reply” option.

Post Bumping is posting a consecutive post below one you have already made (also known as purpose double posting). Some of the time, there will be a Forum Error, in which your post will be made twice. This is understandable as it isn’t the fault of the user.

Quit doing it!

People that continue do it on purpose will be dealt with promptly.

Worthless Posts: Something I continue to see time and time again. People making one word posts, saying “cool” or “lol”. This will not be tolerated. If you can’t make a worthwhile post, please don’t bother posting. Any post that is deemed worthless is only going to end up deleted anyway.

From now on, if you wish to make a post, you make it a paragraph or nothing. It doesn’t have to be a huge paragraph; one or two lines should suffice. Until people can quit with the worthless posting, this rule is going to be enforced.

Whatever the reason you make for your post, make it interesting. If you are posting a reply from a video, a screenshot, or an idea, post what you like about it, and what you dislike about it along with a general opinion. Make you post count, make it stand out.

Multiple Threads: Some people throughout the community deem it necessary to create a new thread for every single thing. This isn’t necessary! An example would be threads related to Dark Crusade – we don’t need a new thread for every video released, it just takes up space, and gives us more unnecessary work to do.

Spoiler Tags: These are becoming a concern. Those of you that post images should be well aware of Spoiler Tags. They should be used for any image that is over 600 pixels in width. To use them, you place a [ spoiler ] in front of an image / image link, and then a [ /spoiler ] at the end of an image / image link. When doing so, remember to remove the spaces between the brackets and text.

Signatures: I’m also finding this to become a problem as of late. The Maximum signature size is allowed to be 800x160 pixels. Nothing more, and there are no exceptions.

In addition to that, there are currently a lot of users who have two signatures, of say 400x160, or four signatures of 400x80. The “one signature” means just that. One image! Not several images making up the maximum size limit, but a single image. If people wish to have several images, then go into paint, and make one image from several (remembering the 800x160 rule).

I’m giving this until Friday. Those who have not sorted out their signatures by Friday may find themselves without signature privileges (this means your current signature(s) will be removed altogether and you won’t be allowed one).

Those of you who don’t come on (people may be on holiday, or ill) I’ll make an exception for.

Arguing: The forums are a peaceful place of debate and discussion. Far too often I find people insulting each other, or calling others retards or idiots etc because of a simply mistake they make.

Likewise, not everyone who visits the forums are English. Games are worldwide; therefore it makes sense to think that people from all over the globe will visit the forums. Don’t go on a rampage when someone doesn’t make sense. They may not be very good at English. Try and cope.

Arguing w/ Moderators: This is out of the question. Myself, Cloud & Splurge spend a fair amount of our free time on the forums, and in doing so keep it up together. If we delete a thread, remove a thread, edit something, change something whatever, it is up to us.

We don’t need to leave an explanation for our actions (thought sometimes, if we deem it necessary we will). Once we’ve done something, we don’t need to explain it to anyone (other than perhaps the Administrators or Super Moderators if asked). Likewise, members who decide to have some “fun” and get in a mood with us or in turn decide it would be fun to insult us will find themselves with a permanent ban.

The only time you (a regular member) would be having one to one talks with a Moderator is if you’ve done something wrong. In which case, we are helping you, to help us to enforce the rules. We don’t appreciate sarcastic feedback. It isn’t appreciated. If you abide by the rules, we wont have any reason to bother you.

Both threads alike have been left open (and are to stay that way). If there is anything someone doesn’t understand, then for heavens sake, ask us. It is one of the many reasons we are here for. Like wise, if anyone has anything to say regarding the matter, come forth and say it.

Edit: This takes immediate effect on Friday, makes sense as that is when I am going to take care of the over sized banner issue. This also gives people time to read and adjust to this.

The part where it says the following explains that

I made a point of dragging it through every DoW sub-forum so that people who only visit the respective places will see the thread. This will remove itself within a week due to a set timer.

Indeed, Spamming has become a very big problem and it isn't fair on me, Cloud & Splurge to have to clean up after it.

Your signature is fine. Providing it is no larger than 800x160 pixels, and is a single image, you are ok.

How big is 800x160? i am no good with these computer sayings i get too confused?. What about how much writting we put into a sig?.
