Opening maps

hey i have an error with opening my maps.First of all the icons don't look how they're supposed to. By this i mean most of you when you download maps they probably look like a scroll or a shrivled up piece of paper. Mine look like a white sheet with a black square in the middle. And then when i want to download maps i can't just save the file in my warcraft 3 maps folder. I have to save the file to my desktop and then drag and drop it into the warcraft 3 maps folder. I screwed thisup one day by right clicking a map and pressed open with worldedit. Does anyone know how i can get my map files to look like scrolls again? thanks for your help

You have a Mac? Or a Windows (Xp, Vista?)
