Warcraft 4 Announced?

During Blizzcon, the vice president for game design made a mention about Warcraft IV. He said that Warcraft IV will have the same release order as Starcraft II. Meaning that each campaign will be in a different game, allowing for more epic story telling.

The big news from BlizzCon yesterday was that Starcraft II would be released as three separate titles, but an interesting piece of information was let slip during a Starcraft panel.


According to several sources working from BlizzCon transcripts, during one of the development panels for Starcraft II one of the panelists made mention of Wacraft IV.

While discussing the unorthodox Starcraft II release plans, executive vice-president of game design for Blizzard, Rob Pardo let slip that the Warcraft IV campaigns would be released in the same episodic manner.

It's not much to go on, but we could be seeing an official announcement soon.

Although this is interesting, doesn't this mean that it is going to cost 3 times as much?

Probably...I really don't think that releasing the champions separately is a good idea. I mean, what are they going to do about multiplayer?

They've completely butchered the lore of the game with World of Warcraft, and how they'll continue the story with the game I have absolutely no idea. It'd be weird and almost stupid. =/

I agree with Flodgy... They should keep World of Warcraft where it is and keep working on just Warcraft

I agree, they killed the story and lore with WoW, but let's be realistic, after Warcraft 2 and its expansion, almost every heroes had been killed or would not make it to Warcraft 3. I'm talking about Lothar, Khadgar, Doomhammer, Blackhand, Gul'dan, Turalyon, ect...

And this fact did not stop Blizzard to make a Warcraft 3 with a bunch of new characters: Arthas, Illidan, Tyrande, Malfurion, Muradin, Thrall, and the list keep getting bigger!

So don't worry about the lore guys, I'm sure Blizzard has a million of ideas! After all, isn't Warcraft 3 one of the best sequel ever?

(looking forward for an announcement at the next Worldwide invitationnal in 2009... well I hope!!)

I will bet that they wont announce WC4 until atleast SC2 ships off and Diablo 3 is given a release date. Im hoping that blizz proves me wrong and announces it earlier but who can really say?

Lets just hope that they do actually announce it and stop us poor souls from waiting!
