Default Out with the new, in with the old

Is it just me, or do more people want UT 2003 to be more like the older version than how it is? I just noticed there is a new UT Classic mutator in the new patch.

I personally think the game is great, but that the original felt better. The thing is, I don't think UT 2003 can really catch the same frag fest feeling because of these reasons:

-There is now a lot more detail. Yes it looks great and looks crap without enough of it, but the maps are all so pretty, I am always too busy think "wow" to think "who's next?" or "dodge!...DODGE!" Maybe this is just me though...

-The maps are too big. All players are never in the same place, and the recommended bot count for each map is quite low, so the most I usually get is "Double kill", or "multi kill" if I get a well-placed redeemer shot. I am not great at this game, but I play it a lot. Also the large maps mean when bad guys first come into view quite far away, so the fighting is largely at long range. UT used to be more disintegrating-someone-just-as-they-come-around-the-corner-with-your-flack-cannon. This doesn't happen any more.

hmmm. looks like i almost wrote an essay there. better pull myself away.

So every1 please say how u feel about the game in comparison to the original.
thanx for reading
just had to let it out.

Default Out with ut2003???

I wouldnt say throw it out but...eh. There is a lack there from the original, and hell yes the scale is hugh, but its still a very great game! That is if you can run it decently. And it doesnt have all the lame ass, cheap, camping, aim bot using, SOB's that the first had...yet so i do find it more compelling to play on a server when I have a chance and can come in the top 3 every now and then, One thing I can say is that Ut2003 has left me with an after taste if you will, always wanting more, and I love to see those user made files!!
Keep Em coming boys!

First I'd like to say the vote options are a bit OTT, personally I think UT was a great game and UT2003 is even better. Everything that was lacking in UT was tweaked and improved in UT2003, and nowadays with all the patches and bonuspacks it's nearly the perfect arena FPS. The only problems I see are the lack of good official maps and models/skins. The Epic bonuspack particularly increased the number of decent maps but the models are still problematic (although I have to say I love the new official brightskins mod, beats the pants off TTM): the Gen Mo'Kai look great but are incredibly easy to hit, the humans do complicated flips in the air that make them easier to hit than other species when performing aerial maneuvres and the females are skimpy little things that are harder to hit than the rest. Then there's the fat-ass juggs. There's not really any way of fixing this now unfortunately, but a wider selection of models might be nice, especially as the community has only brought out one or two good models so far.

I miss the old 4-way team games. Having gold and green teams really added an extra dimention to gameplay. I always thought it would be leet if we could have a 4-way CTF game going.
