Running MeTaL (S3TC) compressed textures there is a very noticable difference. The dark shadings in 16 color have a dark greenish tint toward the center.

And something else. With 32 color I can easily see the "glow" of the damage amp while someone is using it. He can be in a hallway around a corner and I instantly know he's coming, or running the other way. Like he's carrying a purple lantern. Same with the shield belt only goldish. With 16 bit color I don't see those glowing tip offs.

Hickeroar October 25th, 2000 02:12 AM

im running about 60-80 fps w/ 10-12 bots.

I can't belive you can't tell the difference. The color is more vibrant...more "colorful". http://boards.ioerror.com/biggrin.gif Check out what Potluck said about the damage amp and shiled belt. The difference is subtle, but it IS there. Also with my card, there was no difference in speed between 32 and 16 bit. If anything, 32 bit was slighty faster.

800x600...........most stuff off like gore lighting..i only play UT over thr net on a 56k so my modem can`t handle anything higher, i have tried at 1024 but it freezes after about 20 mins.

i can play offline at 1024 with everything on and no probs at all with me voodoo 3000 and pIII 500.

I play 800x600x16 2xFSAA. Everything on High. Dynamic lighting is a MUST. (The glow pot was talking about) I get about 40 FPS on line and 110 FPS offline

(V4500AGP) BTW I'm color deficiant so 16/32 doesn't make a difference.

If you play DM-Gallion (That boat one) and look at the moon/sky you can really see the difference between 16-bit and 32-bit IMO. But I still run in 16-bit 1024x768 because I like the extra fps. http://boards.ioerror.com/smile.gif

1024x768 All Low
Gamma on max
No decals but I do get that other lighting
No volumetric lighting
Vsync off
Coronas off
Ugly Fast Refresh on
and some other stuff

0DDJ0B October 25th, 2000 11:19 PM

Damn Dolby, no wonder you suck so much... hehe... http://boards.ioerror.com/biggrin.gif

I run in 1024x768 All high (curved surfaces, coronas, volumetric lighting)... minus decals, don't really serve a purpose, IMO.

w/ 15 bots, my avg framerate is 60fps. (timedemo stats 0wn)
