2 questions:

1.) Are you using a digital connection?

2.) Do you have the Creative AudioHQ installed?

not using a digital connection - at least i don't mean to be - i don't, as i said, have the dig-connect between the mobo and the card hooked up. other than the fact that the receiver i have seems to be "digital", that wouldn't orevent me from using headphones. under what circumstances would i want to? i just hooked the card into an open pci slot.
and, yes, i have the audio HQ isntalled. i'd like to think it's some switch or setting on the hq causing this, but even with the volume at 87% i don't even hear any kind of hiss or anything.
somebody mentioned an icon saying something along the lines of "what you hear", i can't find it anywhere.
and i don't know about you, but something like this drives me absolutely nuts till i get it fixed, and i have to be so busy away from home in the next couple of days i won't really have time to just sit and play with it. grrrrr....

Well I have an SBLive card w/ a digital connection, so see if this helps.

1.)Run AudioHQ, Open up the 'Mixer' utility.

2.)Click on the Environmental Audio icon (in the top right).

3.)In the newly revealed panel under the 'Speaker' section, turn Digital Output on.

4.)Hook the speakers up using the digital connection.

5.)Restart, and pray that it works!! http://boards.ioerror.com/smile.gif

I suggested that because before I figured out how to enable digital audio and was using my analog connection, I wouldn't get any sound... hopefully it helps.

hey, ManWhore... when you say you ARE using a digital connection, do you mean you have the cables connected from the PC speaker connection on the mobo to the PSDIF Digital I/O connector on the sound card? i don't have that connected, and didn't even get those cables n the package.
i'll try the other connection, tho - the dig out to my 4-channel receiver...
