Daikatana

I would post this on the Daikatana board, but I don't want to make anybody mad... and I want to know from you all...

Has anybody downloaded and played the new Daikatana demo. Is it just me or is this game suck complete ass? It almost felt like I was playing Hexen2 with crappy weapons. I'll admit I didn't play it that long, but from what I saw, it didn't look good. All I fought in the first two areas of single player were mechanical frogs, mosquitoes, and aligators. I fired up a deathmatch game to find another level with little to no color and player skins with bad animation. One of my machines has crackling sound, and during multiplayer only on of the machines could see the other charaters weapon...

Oh well... tell me what you think.

I personally like Daikatana quite a bit. Since your coming from a UT background its less likely to appeal to you.

To be honest with you... I don't play UT that much. As I've said before, I play a larger variety of games than almost anybody I know... this one just does not appeal to me.

It looked bad to me too. I think while they were working on it the other, newer games passed them by. I feel sorry for them all that work and now who will buy it. In gamming you snooze you lose.

It wasn't Romero's fault though, it was the Decision makers that decided to delay the game when the code was finished and ready to go gold.

I think that game would have been cool 2 years ago when it was being made...

Yup.. the game was a waste actually. Took me about 11mins to d/l the whole friggin game. Load it up and then started configuring my keyboard and off I went. Played for an hour.. then jumped into a multiplayer screen and it locked up ;/

although, I do love the pic that pops up during the installation. http://boards.ioerror.com/smile.gif

Guys remember that this is a DEMO! not the finished game. save your bitching until you have played the full version and have reason too. you never know, you might actually like it.

I thought the idea of a demo was to sell the game. If the demo is not an example of the game why bother? Now sounds like some expect us to ignore the sales demo and buy the final product to see if we like it or not. Makes no sense to me why do they bother to even make a demo if it is not a demonstration of the final game? To me the demo said the game was a waste of time.

I agree with KillDawg. There is a difference between a Demo and a Test or Beta. A demo should represent the game perfectly, with the exception of some "options". The gameplay, graphics, etc. should all be the same as the full release.

I also agree that the game was just put off too long. I was looking forward to this game for a LONG time and I am disapointed now that I have seen the demo. IMO, the game would have had a larger impact if it had been released a while back.
