Need help..UT will not run on my system!

I have never been able to run UT or the UT demo on my machine in any 3d mode including software rendering. I have tried all suggested fixes on the GTIS site and upgraded to all patch levels. My system is a PIII 450 with 512 Meg of pc100 memory. Video card is a Diamond Viper 770 Ultra. Sound Card is the Diamond Monster Sound MX300. I am running DX7 and using the latest version of the Nvidia Detonator drivers.I have had no problems running Q3 or Tribes or any other game until this one. The game finds my video card then locks up at the UT splash screen and quits responding. Any help or suggestions would be greatly apprecitaed.

on the unreal.epicgames.com site there is a beta dll for Gforce (nVidia) users. Try that!

If it does not even run in safe mode???? Un install UT...then re-install. Failure?

Re-install your whole system!

Maybe its that Qwak thing that you loaded!!

You have too much RAM in your system.

Send some to me and you should be right http://boards.ioerror.com/smile.gif

If you are trying to use Direct3d, try OpenGL... If you are trying to use OpenGL, try Direct3d. Just to see if you can get the thing to run.

There have been a lot of people having problems with the TNT2 chipsets and other similar cards. The Unreal engine was originally designed for Glide.

I have a 500 pIII with the stock tnt card that it came with and when i first got UT and tried to run it in any mode other then software rendering i had the same exact problem...it would always seize up my whole computer and i would have to reboot..all i did was download the latest patch and it fixed it...you may just have to bite the bullet and play with out 3d support if nothing else works..or take the game back. you might also try setting the resolution size lower..if you can get that far into the menu. good luck.

I have not gotten the game software or the demo to run in any mode(i have tried all of them)...it did start to find my vid card after i installed the patch but locks when i launch. I'm gonna try the open gl dll iceman suggested if i can find it. I also installed the d3d dll with no success.

Still trying to get it going!

Try shutting down any programs which may be running with windows bt pressing ctrl-alt-del. You should only leave open explorer and systray unless you have something else critical running.

If that doesnt work try running windows in safe mode. It should work in software rendering. If it works whilst windows is in safe mode there is probably something in windows which is stuffing it up.
