| I need to register | Where is the modem play option!! Argh. I don't understand it. Way back in the day, when Doom was the game to be playing, me and my friends used to love playing it over a direct modem connection. Coop games were so fun; one of us would host and the other person would just dial-in to their machine and the fun would start. I want to know what happened to the direct modem play option in FPS games. Every other genre has it: Sports, RTS, Racing, etc... Why has this stopped!? Maybe for people with cable modems who can just hop onto a server and play with no lag anyway this is not a big deal, but for us 56k'ers, this is a huge blow! I want to play online with a friend while having a low ping!
Someone mentioned that you can dial-up someones comp in Win98 using Dialup Networking. So I scouted around and got it working. I hosted Dialup Server, while my friend connected, but once I hosted a LAN game in UnrealT, my friends ping shot up to 3000+. It was completely unplayable!
Is there a better way to do this, because I certainly do not see how! Please Epic, add this feature back in! Me and my friends love playing eachother directly over the modems without having to dial-in to the internet. Considering Doom had this option along with every other genre under the sun, please incorporate this feature back into FPS games - it cannot be hard to implement.
P.S. Is there a place I can mail Epic to suggest stuff like this? It would be easy enough for them to add in the next patch. |
