Will i ever be able to play an internet game without lag on my 56k modem, when i shoot it takes about half an hour for the shot to come out and by that time im dead?? Is there a way to improve performance??

Firstly -u need to check ur ISP -if they only allow u to connect at a low speed then unless u change ur ISP there is no way UT will improve online
there are some tweaking guides for ur modem at various UT sites around the place
UR system is pretty good for UT overall although every1 could do with a better graphics card
I usually connect to my ISP at 44,000bps
at most I get 45,333bps and with that I can get pings ranging from 180- 20000000000000!
it depends on the server aswell -if they are overloaded then they may not be able to cope with the demand of the players on it.
no doubt some1 else around here will give u some hints aswell

You also might want to check to make sure you're internet setting is right , open UT , in the top menu choose preferences , net settings (or something smilar), and make sure you have the correct one chosen (56k) which should set netspeed to 2600 (recommended by most with 56k)

Get rid of that HSP modem they suck big time.
Get an External 56k one. USR is most recomended. It will reduce your ping by over 100 percent
