Geforce problem

I was using an i740 (4Meg) with an 8 meg voodoo 2 card. I just installed a Geforce prophet SE and am getting much lower time demo numbers. There is obviously something wrong.

I have the latest manufacturer's driver and I went through the UT setup to change graphics accelerator.

What did I miss?

This card has to be capable of better than 32fps in single player mode with all details set to low. Res=800x640

Well first off, go download nVidia's drivers at www.nvidia.com. Also make sure you have the latest patch for UT. When you get that done maybe I could help more. Also, give me more info about your system (sound card, processor, etc.)

Okay:

I just loaded th nVidia reference drivers. They were older than the Guillemot drivers.

I have a Celeron 333A, 128 MB PC100, 32 MB Guillemot Geforce SE,

The point is that the only thing that I did was remove my 4MB i740 and 8 MB Voodoo 2 and replace them with the Geforce.

I was getting framerates higher with the old setup. I must have missed something.

Do any of your other games get good performance? If not then check to see if your old drivers may still be installed (accidently of course).Click Start, Run, in the box type "dxdiag.exe c:\windows\
desktop\dx.txt" without the quotes("")and click OK. This will save a file named dx.txt to your desktop. Click on the .txt and scroll down to the very bottom to see if you may have any inactive display devices or sound devices. If you don't then the problem lies elseware.

Nope:

The only thing that shows there is the Geforce.

If you have Half-life try that. You should get around 60+ FPS in D3D and over 100 in openGL. {NO you will never see these in UT}.

If you get that your card is fine. UT is the problem, wait for the supposed D3D messiah, patch 406.

If you have trouble in HL, they chances are you did not uninstall your VooDoo2 drivers correctly. This is a problem as 3dfx has not bothered to document every little file oand registry entry. Try using Add/Remove programs under control panel and cross your fingers. If it is not there, might I suggest backing up all important data, formatting the drive and reinstall everything making sure to not install the Voodoo drivers. If you are using the Voodoo2 in conjunction with the geforce, get the GLIDE only drivers, as for openGL and D3D the GeForce will be the card of choice, but for glide you will use the VooDoo2.
