Answer to all UT vs. Video Card questions If your running a TNT2,GeForce,S3 Savage 2000,etc..... Your going to have problems I have a Diamond Viper II with 32 megs on the card running the dirvers from diamond site they said, qoute "Resolves Unreal Tournament Issues" but it doesn't. In Direct3D or OpenGl it looks bad, polygon breakup every where, mixed up textures, crashes, runs very very slow and/or choppy, I've tried everything to fix this, every tweak on this message board, but to no avail. But there was hope I pulled out my old Creative 3D Blaster Voodoo 2 8 meg card, popped it back in and the game runs like a Dual PIII 750 with 1Ghz of ram on a 50gigabyte hard drive. No slow down, no prechaching, no problems. GT interactive just did a bad job with support for people who own cards that are not made by 3dfx. They were the best cards to have last year when Unreal was first introduced but now almost everybody has a TNT2 or now a Geforce in there machine. GT needs to get with the program. |
I agree i got a Athlon 700 and a GeForce DDR card my system has 262 megs o ram and the game can run like ASS compared to my P II 450 with a VooDoo 3500 / I love Unreal to death but Q3 at least supports the other cards GT is friggin lazy. Dont get me wrong i still play UT anyway cause its just damn fun. |
hi, need dome help please i have a p3 500 with a CL TNT2 U im thinking of getting a v3 to replace the tnt2, because i mainly play q2, tribes, and unrealtournament, although i would want to run Q3 too. Is this the best idea, because i wont be loseing any money by selling the tnt2 nd getting a v3 as a replacement any good ?? |
Anyone knows about problems with the Matrox Millennium G400?I played UT on my computer AND on other computer with the same model of video card (Matrox G400 32Mb and also 16Mb) and, on every system I noticed heavy polygons problems. The polygons disappear, have many irregular forms and so on... I used the latest drivers for my card and also the latest DirectX drivers. |
Untill better dirvers are made to support Direct3D or OpenGL (my favorite), everybody is just SOL. You can go buy a 3dfx card it'll run with NO PROBLEMS, as you can tell there are not as many post about anybody having problems running UT using a 3dfx card. But if you stop and think about it this could be some sort of market ploy. How can you bring out one of the last hottest games of the century and have bad support. In my opinion I think 3dfx has lost a lot of the market to nvidia and hooked up with GT to get people to buy voodoo card by purposely writing bad drivers for OpenGL and Direct3d. Just an opinion. |
so i should'nt get a v3, and stick to having 29 fps, even though i have one of the most powerfull computers on the earth ( meterphorically speaking ) ? |
29fps is plenty good. I'm only getting 25fps. If you can wait till the summer they'll be releasing the voodoo 4 and 5. |
I find it strange that you guys are only getting 25-35 frames a sec. I have a pentium III 450, V770 TNT2, 64 megs, I have it set at 16 bit color with everything else maxed out and I get anywhere from 40 fps to 60 fps, depending on the map and how many players of course. Just wanted to add my two cents. Peace out. |
yeah, i get that frame rate easy, when theres not much happening, but as ssoon as theres a few players on the screen, and a fire fight, it slows to 29 fps and when u look at the flags in ctf, with a few players on screen its 29 fps that aint good when u compare it with Q3 where you have full on action, with full on high qual curves and all, with ful on 50 fps tis not right in opengl, after the HDD has stopped churning if you move a few cm, you get a high fps, and it looks better, but its just unplayable with the HDD thrashing, and memory swapping tis bad |
I still havent bought Q3. I'm gonna have to go buy so I can just see for myself. |
