Hi,

have you tried chaging your sound options (under AUDIO)?

Play with the Hardware, Hardware+EAX and Software settings, and try each one. This might help.

I have the new patch 2225 and no sound problem.

Yes I have tried changing these. Only thing is it only works on software, and I wanna use my audigy and eax and cambridge soundworks surround speakers!

Hi,

know what u mean: I have an Audigy 2 and Megaworks 550 5.1 THX; u want hardware+eax.

I've had the same problem as u back when patch2166 was around, then patch2186 solved my problem.

My advice would be to do a complete re-install of ut2003.

Before u do, check the Audigy 2 set-up

On the eax console:

I have CMSS 2 ticked

Enable audio cleanup ticked

on Speaker settings:

synchronize with control panel is ticked

speaker calibrator selection is ticked

Digital output unticked

Try these settings.

U could try re-installing the audigy 2 drivers.

Good luck.

Sorry, I've just noticed that u have not noted if u have an audigy or audigy 2 (I am only familiar with the latter).

Hope the settings are similar.

Chrisivx April 25th, 2003 12:46 PM

just audigy im afraid

how do u get to ur console on audigy 2?
Also, u say u have 5.1 speakers. Does 1 big speaker and 4 little ones attatched to it count as 4 speakers or 5.1?

TT1 April 25th, 2003 01:10 PM

Hi,

5.1 means 5 speakers and one bass box. I can access those audigy 2 options from the start>creative>(choose function).

But my guess is:

If your card works well and the sound only fails on ut2003, then the cards drivers are proabably ok; u can try to play with the cards settings.

If this has no effect, then re-install ut2003 and patch only 2225 (don't use any other patch - u don't need too).

This should work.

A fresh re-install is a pain, but can save u much time: More time to shoot the shit. And that can't be a bad thing!!

Chrisivx April 25th, 2003 02:21 PM

i don't know how to play with it:(
i can't find anything with advanced settings in it. Where would be the most obvious place to find these? (other than in the start menu)

I think I tried reinstalling before. The fact is the version of the defopenal32 which file which come with any patch after v2186 (maybe 2166) does not work with UT2003 and with my audigy. I heard you can download more up to date ones...

TT1 April 26th, 2003 12:02 AM

u could try the creative folder in program files (start>my computer>your hard drive>program files>creative). There might be a link here . . . u will have to look.

Does the old audigy support eax? I am not sure but u should check this. Does your ut2003 work with audio setting hardware?

If u are not sure u have re-installed, try it again to be sure.

If the audigy works fine (except with ut2003), leave its drivers and re-install ut2003. If not uninstall then install the drivers. There's no need to uninstall your old copy of ut2003: Just rename the UT2003 folder on your hard drive. Then you can drag maps, textures, static meshes, sounds and music to your new install.

Don't drag your old system folder, as the problem is likely to be here.

If what you say about the defopenal32 is true, then I can't help - sorry. You could try to contact creative or epic, or look for other threads on other sites, or searck for updates.

Nevertheless, I know men who have ut2003 and an Audigy and no problems. So it can be done!!

Good luck.
