I Am Deeply Anoyed My Enternet Pop Ups That Scrue Up My Game..need Help Badly

Dude, you should be ashamed of yourself...where did you learn to spell? Anyway, I've been using a pop up blocker called Pop-Up Stopper Free edition and it really works. You can grab it over at www.panicware.com & they also have a few other software programs that you may find handy. Sorry for being sarcastic, but if you've graduated Junior High...oh well, nevermind. i think everyone is getting confused here. manslaughter isnt talking about popups on his webbrowser. he is getting the kind that look for active network ips that have open ports in the firewall. if u have your firewall configured correctly, then u probably havent seen these before. if u dont know what these are, all it takes is an active network connection, cable or dsl, and an improperly configured firewall. these popups randomly search the net for their victims. his problem is that when is playing a game, these popups come up and stop his game to display their crap ware ads. this is why in earlier post i told him to go to his network connection and uncheck client for microsoft. if this is checked, then the ports will be open and those are the ports the popup ads lookfor thru your firewall. and by default, this is checked along with network and printer sharing, he doesnt need an Internet Explorer popup stopper, thats a completley different animal altogether.

OKAY. Here is the way to fix this.

1. Right click "My Computer"

2. Go down and click "Manage"

3. There should be a tree on the left side, double click the "Services and Applications" thing at the bottom.

4. The window to the left of that tree should have something called "Services" double click it.

5. A big list with all your system services shows up, scroll down until you see one that says "Messenger" and double click it.

6. A new window pops up, it should have several things. Go to were it says "Startup Type" next to it, it should be set to "Automatic," change it to "Disabled" by clicking the dropdown box and selecting "Disabled."

7. Next, look down a little more, you should see a button labled "Stop." Click it.

8. Click apply.

9. Click ok.

10. Exit out of all that, restart you computer and bam.

This does not effect windows messenger or msn messenger, it just kills the popups.

So he was talking about the "net send" messages thingies?

exode's post on how to turn off the messenger service should have worked so go through it again and make sure u did it correctly. make sure startup type is disabled, service status stopped and dont forget to hit apply before u hit ok. and yes, its always good to have firewall up lol

Thank you cloudy. Yes, these are the net send popups. Now they are types of advertisements and they are annoying, i would reccomend all of you do that.
