ati 9800 problem

ok i have a 9800 pro 2.8E p4 and 512mb of ram and a abit 1c7 mobo

so heres the problem:
playing by my self with bots i get about 50 -120 fps but
when i play online my fps maxes out at 40 and i dont know how to fix it, i know its not the vsync beacuse i turned it off and 40 is not a refresh rate
so anyone know how to fix this??

Dunno if it's related to the prob but there's an option to preload all player skins in UT2004 settings - you need a min of 512MB RAM to do this and it's on by default so you could try turning that off (I'm thinking it may be this as it only loads all of them when you're playing online or on a lan and if it only happens then, could that be related(?) Worth a try anyway

I keep hearing something about a FPS cap around the community, hopefully it'll be fixed in the patch (a changelist was published today, so it's probably just days away).

hey i found the fram rate cap its bCapFramerate in the ut2k3 ini but its probably the same in ut2k4 i think

it does somethingg for me now my fps is back to 120
