Opera

About a week ago i decided to see about Opera. I will never go back to IE again. What are other people's thoughts on Opera?

Re: Opera

Opera's pretty, but it comes in a box and costs money. Even though I'd prolly be supporting a better movement by using Mozilla, I use an IE modification called Slim Browser....It has Roboform built in, scripting built in, pop up blocker, search for over 25 engines and a load of other stuff....and it can support IE plugins, too! Oh, and best of all, it's TABBED!

It really isnt. There are plenty of different stuff that changes from one brower to another.

Re: Opera

Sh0rd, did you just call me an advertiser? I just like SB, that's all...Opera's really cool because it can masquerade as another browser if you set it to do that, so it'll emulate IE if you'e having formatting problems....But hey, maybe someday we'll see safari ported like iTunes......or not....

Re: Opera

I like opera because it has all the pagess you are looking at in one window, not like IE where your whole taskbar is full and cluttered.

Re: Opera

Yeah, that's called tabbed browsing, I have that, too! It really changes how you surf....have you used groups yet? One hotkey launches like 5 sites!

Re: Opera

Re: Opera

Very nice indeed. Must be a LARGE display....Anyhoo, back to Opera. Did you get the free version, or buy the full? If so, how much did it cost? Or did it come from an "unconventional" source?

Re: Opera

it is web browser-supposed to be better than IE i have never used it though

Peeping Tom November 15th, 2003 10:33 PM

Re: Opera

It's an alternative to IE. I'm sure you're a better person if you use Opera or Mozilla or whatever, but meh, what're you gonna do? Actually, I don't even use it, but it IS far superior...I just hate ad bars (BTW, in the paid version, it isn't there, then it's pretty slick...)

Re: Opera

And I have a hosts file that blocks ads :)

Re: Opera

I got Opera installed. Suppose to be "the fastest browser on earth" cause it says so in the corner :p

Got many great features that IE is missing. And it is faster in a few areas.
Bad things is not all websites are supported, the adbar, and some general graphics rendering problems..
Most of these issues might go away if I took the time to scroll through "settings", but Im to lazy..

Re: Opera

http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/eDexter.html

Edit the file. Run eDexter at startup. Done.

Opera should be able to run any site, it can emulate IE or netscape, too.....
