Geforce 4mx440 128mb ram crashes! Ok i have just got my geforce 4 and i installed it and set up all the drivers but pretty much as soon as windows loads up it crashes-the whole computer will not come out! If i get past it not crashing in windows (which rarely happens) all i have to do is load up any kind of game and the darn pc crashes! Ive downloaded the latest nvidia drivers but still no luck and to make matters worse i try using my old TNT 2 but the pc will not even recognise it is there so bascially i can't play ANY games whatsoever! Plug and play my arse! My system specs are AMD Duron 1.3ghz 256MB rAM 40GB hard disk 52X cd rom and windows XP the card is the geforce 4 mx 440 AGP 128MB version. PLease help! Nvidia of course does not provide support as they "only sell to PC manufactures not end users" how i bought my graphics card then i do not know! And if this problem is not resolved i am never buying an NVdia product again! |
Maybe it is my motherboard I think my motherboard is an SIS730 i don't suppose any of you know if that means i cant use this card? |
oh and i don't suppose any one could tell me how to find out what motherboard i have? |
Do you get any errors before the computer locks up or reboots? Such as a memory dump or an IRQ Error. |
no i have been told it might be because the card is incompatible with my motherboard although it seems weird it would recognise the card is there and once installed and all then crash |
Well, like I said before any errors before crash? |
no Nope |
Where did you buy the motherboard from? And if you bought the computer from a place such as Dell or Compaq or whatever call them and tell them your model number. They will tell you what motherboard it is. |
well i bought the computer nearly a year ago froma small pc manufacturer and im pretty sure the motherboard is a SIS 730 if not it is definatley a sis board of some kind |
SIS740 is a chipset. Not a motherboard. Do you have their contact info? Also, you can search online for system spec appz. It'll tell you. |
sounding to me like ya need to update mobo drivers. do you have built on sound? sound causes simailar crashes. make sure that in your bios setup that your agp is set to 2X,4X or just reset to defaults. also make sure your nvidia card is on irq 11. pull the card out then pop in old card check for crashes. while the old card is in remove old drivers shut down then install new card. update mobo drivers. also look for the name of motherboard it will be on the board it self that or just numbers copy them run a search in google. |
