I've heard that the Voodoo 1, 2 and 3 do not work in XP.

That is correct, there are currently no compatible drivers available at this time.

The Voodoo 3 will work, well the Direct X part does. I can't get the Opengl part to work and Glide just refuses to work. The 2d part of the card works fine as far as I can see. I'm using the win2k drivers with it.

The Voodoo cards DO work with XP. I was using my Voodoo3 2000 AGP with it ever since Beta2, and all the way through RC2. The only problem is that you have no Glide, and OpenGL is scarce. I'm sure if you're like me, if you can't use Glide, what's the point? Right?
Well, there are third party drivers around the web, but I've gotten none to work in Glide. So, unfortunately I've been booting back to Win95 when I want to see my games in the "true mode" they were intended to be played in.
So in short, 3dfx cards DO work in XP. Same capabilities as in Win9x, WinME, and W2K? NOPE! The only game I have that I play everyday in XP is NBA Live 2000. D3D mode looks great, so I don't feel I lose anything. Other games I have just look horrible compared to Glide mode though.

i have been doing some research on windows xp & 2000. The reason the voodoo 2 wont work is because these os'es dont support pass thru video technology. If anybody has a back door or a work around, please let me know. As far as the voodoo 3 AGP, ya it works because it a straight video card.

My Voodoo2 works in Win2k just fine. Only problem is I have a choice between D3D only(bundled drivers) or Glide only(reference drivers).

1madman1,
How did you get your voodoo 2 to work? Are you using the pass thru cable? Could you please explain it to me step-by-step? This card is the only thing that allows me play my games with any kind of quality. What drivers are you using? Where did you get them & is there anyway you could email them to me? I am desperate! Please help.

I'm using the pass through cable and the last beta reference drivers. I don't remember exactly what method I used to install the drivers, but I didn't have to do anything special.

I've got a voodoo 2 12mb and win 2000 and i have the same problem. I also did some research and found that there are no drivers which will work on win 2k and that voodoo 2s are incompatatble with this OS. Anyway what i might do is buy an AGP graphics or switch back to win 98. If anyone finds a way around this ANOYING problem please email me!
