I figured it out!
 

You have to go to your internet options-connections tab-never dial a connection has to be checked off. Normally it is dial my default connection. I'm not sure what other programs this may effect but I can still go online so no matter to me.

Blade, it would have been better to post this in the original thread. A week from now the threads will be in a different order and no one will know WTF you're talking about.
