The beta drivers are slower then the official 1.07 drivers, install the 1.07 drivers and then install the x3dfx upgrade drivers.

ShAdOw_WaRrioR March 22nd, 2001 10:09 AM

i know
i need it for open gl
cuz gay 3dfx doest supoort it
and becuz 3dfx is out now they wont make any games using glide

CoolDude365 March 22nd, 2001 01:07 PM

Nah its not, Trust me, stick with the v3, and btw, 3dfx drivers support opengl, the latest 1.07 are great for all areas, ogl, d3d and glide.

ShAdOw_WaRrioR March 22nd, 2001 07:31 PM

go get the Voodoo 5 Beta drivers and install them. They work GREAT and Quake 3 @ 1024x768 run at around the 63fps mark. I have never seen it drop below 50fps. I can even run the game at 1280x1024 and get 49fps. Of course, useing the HSR! Sure as hell works wonders for me.Trust me, They'll even give you a major boost-o-rama in almost every other game that uses any 3 API!

All Voodoo5 drivers work on the Voodoo3 2000...beta or not...

you will just have to install them the old fashioned way...using your control panel.

I couldn't seem to get the V5 driver installer to install the drivers right automatically.

So I unzipped the V5 beta drivers into a temp folder, and installed them using the control panel....

no artifacting that I see....OPenGL in the latest V5 driver aren't too bad either..
