You're leaving out a lot of information like what kind of disk you're attempting to reformat, under what OS,what start button, etc...

When you're in Windows you won't be able to format C drive if you're using it for windows....!

You'll have to boot from your win95 Startup Disk then type FORMAT C:

Criesofthecarro; The format option should be there for floppy disks, not hard drives.

Be REAL careful here. EXACTLY what are you trying to do?

WHY do you need to reformat the drive? Do you understand this will WIPE all info off the drive?

You may not need to reformat the drive - explain the problem you're having.

Don't even consider doing a reformat unless any important files are backed up, you have a copy of Windows on a CD to re-install, you have copies of the drivers for all your system devices (Packard Bell uses a lot of proprietary drivers not on the Windows CD) and installation CDs for all your programs. You also need to know your ISP password and account information as you'll need to set that up all over again.

Packard Hell (sorry, Bell) usually doesn't give you a copy of the Windows CD on their cheaper systems. They instead give you a "System Restore" CD which sets the computer up EXACTLY as it was when you unpacked it out of the box. This will install all drivers and programs that came installed with the computer originally, but not anything you installed later or have seperate install CDs for. This will also wipe out everything on the drive right now including all your personal files.
