Windows XP

So what are your thoughts on the ever looming release of WXP? I have the beta sitting next to me, but I'm a little wary of installing it. From what I hear, it says:
All your RAM belong to us!

The easy answer for me is, "Don't care, won't buy it." Windows 98 works fine for me, my games and applications run (most of the time) and they do so fairly quickly. If I upgrade to a new Microsoft OS, I'm guaranteed a slower running system that hogs more ram and requires the latest Intel CPU for maximum efficiency. That, and I'm paying $100-200 to become a Microsoft public beta tester, while they fix all the bugs that are encountered over the first year of the OS's lifespan. No thanks...I'm fine with the status quo, for now.

Reason I want WinXP? It's built on the Win2000 core, a modern OS, and 9x is still a quasi-DOS OS.

I am awaiting XP, but won't be upgrading for awhile. As long as the upcoming programs will be compatible with 98/ME I'll hold off until the bugs are fixed.

My 5c tip is. Wait for the final release, and then wait some more.... at least until M$ is releasing version 1.1. But thats just me.
Or better yet, let your friends install it and watch their reactions.
