MY ATA100 HD SUX

SO I just bought a new mobo, the EPoX 8KHA today and im plugged in and running on it now, it has ATA100 on it and so does my HD. I have SiSoft Sandra 2001 and I ran the drives benchmark..and to my surprise, the ATA66 7200 rpm HD beats mine!! what the hell is going on? I have an ATA100 7200 rpm Maxtor 30gig and it's being kicked by a little 20 gig ATA66! I installed the drivers from the CD for the PCI IDE mastering, the Via 4in1 4.33 drivers, and all that and it's still horrible...can someone help?
oh yeah, and when I try to overclock my CHIP on this board from 650 to 900 (100*6.5 to 100*9.0) it doesnt boot, yet I have the voltage at 1.7 just like I used to on the old board that i OCed at ...thanks guys

Have you turned DMA on in the properties in Windows? I know ME and some other versions default it off.

Piece of advice in the Maxtor, check the warranty. If it's 3 years keep all docuentation for later use. If it's only 1 year (Euro Maxtor are typically only 1 year) then you, like most people, will be very ****ed off in about 2 years when SMART monitoring points out your Maxtor is about to fail. I and friends have all had this happen to us. The only good thing about it is that SMART monitoring gives you time to copy all the essential data to backup before the HDD fails to spin up on boot (symptoms: HDD takes several attempts to spin up as boot, taking up to a minute, and will spin down in windows and refuse to spin up again; this is along with the SMART warning) at all.

>overclock my CHIP on this board from 650 to 900

Have you tried to clock up in small steps (if so how far will it go) or is this just a big jump (the 50% increase could be more than the ?Unknown CPU? or mobo can handle)?

Alright well I fixed the overclocking problem, stupid me forgot I only have a 250w PS, and im tryin to OC, run a Voodoo5, and 2 cd-roms...took out one of the CD-roms and worked fine, OCed and all
I turned on DMA in the HD thing, but still no go
I have a new problem, but I'll start a new topic for it
thanks anyway
