Default Query about Laptop

I've been offered the following (used) laptop for just over £300/around $500. Was wondering if someone could tell me if this would be value for money, and how well would it be able to run modern games?
  • Product Name: dv6-6150
  • Microprocessor: 2.3 Ghz Intel Core i5-2410M
  • Memory: 4 GB DDR3
  • Video Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6770M (2GB GDDR5 dedicated)
  • Display: 15,6" High-Definition 95% Gamut B+RG LED 1080p (B156HW01 V7)
  • Hard Drive: 500 GB SATA (7200 rpm)
  • Multimedia Drive: SuperMulti DVD±R/RW with Double Layer Support
  • Network Card: Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN
  • Wireless: 802.11 b/g/n
  • Sound: Beats sound system
Thanks in advanced.

Edit: Just read online that the dv6 series of laptops tend to have issues with overheating, can anyone here confirm that? I'm currently looking for a new laptop anyway so if anyone can recommend a better one in a similar price range to the above I would be grateful.

That's... Not bad for the price, but if it has heating issues I'd be concerned on what you'll be doing with it, where, and when. If you plan to play games, you'll definitely need a cooling pad.

The version of that laptop without the integrated graphics chip is about $80 less. Also includes a larger HDD and more RAM, but I'm assuming the processors are near the same.

I guess you'll be able to play modern games, but you'll have to sacrifice resolution or details. Especially if you want to play FPS games. For details just search for youtube videos where 6770M is mentioned.

Maybe you should look what kind of used desktop you can get for that money.

You'll be able to play most games on medium or better with that I think. I have a very similar laptop but with a GT 540M and I haven't had any problems yet. Value for money? Excellent. I paid $650 for my laptop with a less a powerful graphics card and worse sound. That was 6 months ago, $200 off.
