Default power problem ......

i recently got myself a IDE plexWriter and now when i shutdown my computer, the power deosn't turn off by itself anymore.
It doesn't even display the message, 'your computer is now safe to turn off'.

the same thing happens when i try to restart my computer.

i am using win2k

everything was working fine before i installed the burner.

any suggestions

thanks in advance

Well try disconnecting the burner to see if that's really the problem. I suspect not, though.

More than likely it's the software you installed to burn CDs. If it's EZ CD Creator it likes to install something called DirectCD which runs in the background all the time - might be causing problems.

Try uninstalling the burner software and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, go to the manufacturer's web site and try to find an update. Or else get Nero which is just about the best burner software there is.

Generally just installing the drive shouldn't affect anything. The CDR just looks like a regular CD to Windows.

Hope this helps....
