It's so beautiful...

Just got my third ASUS VW266H... It's so beautiful!

I obviously have to drop the eye candy down (especially in ArmA II) to get playable frame rates but over all I am enjoying it.

ArmA II
Spoiler:
This benchmark for some reason letterboxes the center screen...

Dead Space 2

Just Cause 2

Left 4 Dead 2

Thanks for reading (or not...) the thread

Re: It's so beautiful...

As I seem to be the only one so far that appreciates this... =p

Very nice setup. I should hopefully be picking up a second U2410 in the near future. I'm sort of hoping the multi-monitor bug doesn't bite, becuase I won't be able to game on two screens (well, aside from SupCom and the like) and I dunno if I have the money for a third.

How's the compatibility for multi monitors anyway? I've no idea how well it's supported on average.

Post some pics of the physical setup?

Re: It's so beautiful...

I agree. The man is running 3 monitors in a 5760x1200 resolution array. That in itself is impressive enough for me.

I'm wondering, how well does WoW actually work in-game with the chat? I'm not sure I'm a fan of having it that far left, though I suppose you don't really have a choice.

And as for the settings, well...time for an upgrade, methinks.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. February 24th, 2011 04:47 PM

I don't have my camera so I can't get any shots of my desk until I get it back.

It seems to be working rather well, the only issue I have is switching from Extended Desktops (Primary in middle and two extended on the sides) to one large EyeFinity desktop (for gaming)

CCC doesn't seem to like doing that with Preset profiles and it messes up all my desktop icons, but that's just a minor issue.

Not sure on WoW (I don't play it) but in LoTRO you can re-arrange the UI to where ever you want

Oh, my bad. Took it as WoW on first glance.

Re: It's so beautiful...

Only reason I keep playing LoTRO is because it's free and the montly costs are the main reason I don't do other MMO's

Here are a few more

Assassin's Creed II

Dirt 2 (This is really awesome because I also have TrackIR 5)

I'm just so jealous can't wait till i have a real job and can afford a rig that can handle this oh well. It's always been my dream to have the real estate of 3 monitors for the desktop.

Re: It's so beautiful...

While I appreciate the novelty of a triple screen set-up, I could not stand playing with such a view & have it ruined by the low settings.
It would be nice to see some maxed settings images just to show off the advantage of 3 screens, even if the frames are low, just to "see" it. -hint-hint-hint-

Here is some Battlefield Bad Company 2

Re: It's so beautiful...

That's pretty impressive. But personally I'd much rather have a nice 25" monitor and a 34" for external use (yes, I would really spend the money on that big of a monitor.)

Having 3 monitors would make sense to me if I were running 2 x GTX 580 with an i7-980x running at 4ghz. Even then I think that would have some trouble running games in that large of a resolution.

Re: It's so beautiful...

I don't mind loosing some of the eye candy (mostly things like SSAO or HBAO, which I never notice anyways)

Here is some Mafia II

Re: It's so beautiful...

Are the games playable this way? Sometimes my 22 inch widescreen monitor feels large enough that I can't take in the action and HUD at once, I actually find myself looking down at it sometimes - as opposed to just seeing it all on smaller displays. It seems that having a display that wide would only make that problem much worse.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. February 25th, 2011 02:05 PM

Re: It's so beautiful...

It's mainly peripheral vision, you don't really look directly at the side monitors. You'll spend 99% of your time looking at the center monitor.

It's a world of difference though, the best example I've found so far was in Dirt2. I could see the cars pulling up next to me in the side monitors even though most of my attention is on the center monitor

Re: It's so beautiful...

Some of those are nice, but OMG I can't stand the stretching at the edges on some games. How do you tolerate that?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. February 25th, 2011 02:37 PM

Re: It's so beautiful...

Again, your really not looking directly at it. It's mostly peripheral vision though in certain games you can adjust the FOV so it doesn't stretch so much

Re: It's so beautiful...

Renaming and uploading the screens to my personal server is too much of a pain in the arse so you can find all of my shots online at my STEAM Profile

Also, unfortunately Metro 2033 is unplayable in Eyefinity (not because it's too graphically demanding but because of the fact that for some reason the horizontal sensitivity of the mouse scales with the resolution so the H-Mouse sensitivity at 6048x1200 is three times what it is at 1920x1200 while the vertical sensitivity doesn't change. I've surfed all over the net and there is no fix for this.

It's all green, seems to be a caused by the angle of the photo or something. There is a script though that will cycle colors randomly on the keyboard

I can't do that with the current monitor stands but I am in the process of trying to build a monitor stand/arm and then they can be tried vertically
