Re: my first gaming build Looks good. You don't need to spend the money on a 1TB Black drive though, just go for a cheap one. Your intensive applications would be going on the SSD, and even those that aren't would see a minimal performance boost from the faster 1TB drive, if any. |
Re: my first gaming build That's actually a really good set of parts. If I were making a new build, I'd probably go for that same motherboard and CPU, though I'd most likely get a GTX 480 or the next gen of Fermi when they come out. As Daedalus said, the hard drive might be a bit overkill, but you know what you need more than we do. =p |
Re: my first gaming build That looks good. The only thing i would change is the RAM sticks if you ever plan on overclocking. I have those exact same Ripjaws and they suck at anything over their rated speed. If you could afford it, i would go with a GTX 480 instead of the 5870 if you want the absolute best performance. It would raise your cost about $100 over the 5870. Maybe this: Newegg.com - EVGA 015-P3-1480-AR GeForce GTX 480 (Fermi) 1536MB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card |
Re: my first gaming build I'd stay away from that SSD, get a vertex if you want something fast/ not overly expensive. Might also want to shop around though and get some components from different stores. |
