That's probably the best non-hyper threaded dual core CPU you're going to get. "Not bad" is a bit of an understatement. If you're looking at that though, you should also look at the Q6600. It's a quad core, and will easily clock the the same speeds as the E8400. Most have theirs at at least 3.2GHz 24/7.

Im going with the E8400.
I need a 3.0 and im certain i have the money for it.
Its also one of the best none dual core ive seen in a while.

Annd?? A lot of E8400s, mostly the newer binned ones, reach 3.6 - 3.8GHz with a tiny vcore boost...
Im missing your point...the Q6600 reachs 3.6Ghz as well with a bit of vcore boost...They can both be overclocked as easily as each other without much effort...
