The 5770 is about the same as a stock 4870 so its still got some power, my 4870 is still powering along pretty nicely through most games. See if you can get a decent OC out of it.
There is one huge load in one shop once a day, but when I check an hour later, they're all sold out. Only XFX has the 5870 available atm.

And I play at 1440x900 or 1680x1050 on a 20' screen, so a 5770 wil do just fine. I will probably OC it if the temps aren't too high, and I still can't optimal airflow in the CM 690.

Yeah you should be fine with 1680x1050 then. I play at 1920x1080 and my 4870 is still doing good, though it starts to skip a little on some new titles with max settings.

The blue one still at the front (suck in, though at very low fan speed), one at the back (blow out), and the one on the side panel is placed at the top, to suck in fresh air for the CPU cooler. But if I put the top fan at the floor of the case to blow the GPU's hot air up, I blow it straight into the CPU cooler, so I was wondering if it would be smart to let it blow the hot air through the floor?

You'd probably want to do the opposite, since heat technically rises; put the top fan blowing out, since that's where a lot of hot air would be, and the bottom fan blowing in, since that's where a lot of cool air should be.

But isn't the bottom fan blowing the hot air back against the GPU? And it also blows the hot air towards the CPU cooler.

You want the third fan at the top blowing out, or at the bottom blowing in.

As for the GPU heat, if it's got the shroud, then all the heat goes out the case through the shroud anyway.

Yeah, together with a quad, the 4870 is still a great card.

I hate single slot cards. Especially the ones that in fact block the second slot, but do not blow out the case.

A-well-a everybody's heard about the bird
B-b-b-bird, bird, bird, b-bird's the word
A-well-a bird, bird, bird, the bird is the word
A-well-a bird, bird, bird, well the bird is the word

Also, I use the word "also" a lot.

Good for you deciding to go with a less powerful card that suits your needs, rather than grabbing (or trying to grab) a 5850/5870.

You know, that's great and all, but what's your point? For the price/performance range the 5770 with it's "single slot" (You see that bracket? Not single slot, nor do I think it's touting to be single slot.) is a great deal, considering you can crossfire them and still do eyefinity if you so desire.

No, it's not single slot. But by single slot he means 'not dual-slot', or more specifically, not dual-slot all along the card's length, with the second slot perforated to allow hot air to escape from the heatsink. To be honest, it would have been much more preferable for the case's thermals to have gotten a card like this:

These keep the hot air inside the shroud all the way until it gets exhausted out of the back of the case. Of course, the back of the GPU heats up the air on top of it which then drifts up to the chipset and CPU, but that's what you have case airflow for.
