Im tempted to get an AMD rig since its going to stay the same for the next 3 years. Bulldozer looks sweet as hell. Looking at the performance jump from P4 to Core 2.

Yeah, it's getting kind of annoying seeing Intel change sockets like there's no tomorrow. 775, 771, 1366, 1156...whereas AMD has AM2, AM2+, and AM3, all 3 of which will be supported for quite a while yet.

And do you guys think I could get away with using 2gb of ram instead of 4gb for gaming?

If you're using XP, maybe. Otherwise, not really. RAM isn't that expensive, it's much better getting slower RAM if it means getting enough for what you want to do, rather than getting a smaller, unsatisfactory amount of faster RAM.
