| All my old text messages from my old phone went over to my new one just by moving the smartchip over to the new phone. *shrug*

| I suppose you could send them all over to the new one? Or else you could just move the SIM card (or something like it, if your phone has one) between the old and new phones. I'm not sure this would work though, I don't recall texts being stored on there. |

| Some are, depends on the phone, and what you've selected in your messege settings. If you want to send them for free, send them as webtexts. You'd loose date and sender information - unless you added it manually - but you'd still have the texts.

| Bot senses are tingling, but in any case you can store messages on a SIM card but the space is very limited (something like 30 IIRC). Be useful if you only need to move a small number over, but thats assuming your phone allows you to transfer messages from memory to SIM. Simple answer is that if the old one is fairly modern and can be connected to a PC, use the manufacturer software to download them from it phone. Whether they'll be importable directly to your new phone is a different matter, but at least you can keep them.

| there's a lot of freeware programs than can backup them via a datacable I think. Deploying them on a new phone shouldn't be much harder. |

| Removable memory is the best way (SIM cards don't count, they hold nothing), unless your old phone has software that supports exporting txt messages.
