| I was and he is spot on in that at the launch XP had more compatability issues than Vista ever had. |

XP is by far way less stable then Vista, and obviously even more so then Win 7. Quote:
If I remember correctly XP wasn't really useable and decent until SP2, although SP1 did fix a number of issues XP had, it finally came into prime and useability with SP2. Vista on the other hand...useable straight off the bat. Just put Vista on a decent system...none of these Harvey Norman "Made for Vista" bullshit PCs that feature "A MASSIVE 1GB of memory!" and a "HUGE 160GB HDD!!" (Seriously...we have adverts like that lol)

| One of my biggest gripes when XP was launched was that DOS games did not work and like most people at that time I skipped win 2000 and went from Win 98 to XP. What is interesting though is that XP also changed how developers worked. Instead of min requirements simply being XP (or Vista as it is now) they were actually adding Service Pack requirements to their software. Then there is the real fix for these buggy released operating systems and no it is not always the service packs. Time. Over time new drivers, new patches and all the other wonderful things that devs do to make their product work on a OS. Sure service packs fix things in the OS and can help drivers works but it is the updated drivers and patches that are the real heros when Microsoft throw a buggy OS out into the public domain and these usually appear alot quicker than a service pack. Win 7 is what happens when MS listen to customers and use a live beta test like they did. It won't be perfect but it is a damn close and the easiest release of a OS that microsoft has ever had. |

| That's nice, but I'm not talking about XP.

If Windows includes those programs in the default installation, the same people would complain that the OS is bloated. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I never got the whole fascination with Macs. What can they do that Windows cannot? They are the worst gaming platform, and you have an option to run windows xp on it! Why bother? Why not just get a Windows machine and be happy with it? |

| I was around when TRS-80 came out. I remember making up my own game on it. Used up all the memory on it.
