My G7 had a polling rate of around 700, I upgraded to the G9 and instantly noticed less mouse lag. And the difference between 2000DPI and 3500 is like that of night and day.

| No, it's opinion. It's fact that it is technically faster, but it's his opinion that he can notice it. How much of that is attributable to the placebo effect, I don't know. I've had a bunch of different optical and laser mice. The difference between optical and laser is not noticable to me, although the DPI settings are. I also cannot notice any effect caused by different sampling rates in the range that these mice operate in.

By the way, how does the mouse perform on various surfaces? |

| I have this mouse on my Kensington surface, and it is very smooth. |

| When people can notice the difference between 1800dpi and 3500dpi its because they dont change the in-game and in-windows sensitivity so it moves alot more with less effort. But when it boils down to it, if you have the same resolution (amount of space it takes you to do a 360 on the screen) theres no difference. People may say it tracks better or whatever but its all a placebo effect and theres not really any difference. I got PAID to play call of duty and I can tell you theres no difference between the two if you're on the same resolution.

| Actually no ![]() There's still a difference in the fact that higher in OS or in game sensitivity results in blank spots. It basically jumps. Whereas the mouse doesn't. So a difference is there. |

| Are you at a high-enough skill level to actually detect if you mouse is going to jump by one micron or not? For 99.999999% of gamers, there is no difference. Then again it could be that I play with extremely low sensitivity so I dont have to deal with all that BS. <3 using the whole mouse pad when I play.

| It works perfectly on my Razer eXactMat anodized aluminum mouse surface. I generally use the slick Speed side, but the rougher Control side tracks just fine. It also tracks just fine on a ten year old Allsop foam and cloth mousepad, and my wooden desk, without any issues. The only thing I haven't really tested it on is glass, because with few exceptions (like Microsoft's BlueTrack and Logitech's Darkfield sensors), optical mice and glass generally don't work, and I don't have any glass surfaces to begin with.
