Default Delayed Textures in games

How you doin everyone, right when im in game im playing ArmA 2 at the moment say if i quickly run up to somthing lets say a tank i run up to it and its like if all the settings are on low then the model detail will begin to appear then all the textures, last night i turned around and a building was just grey then took bout 5 seconds for the textures to appear? realy annoying.

My specs:

MOBO-Gigabyte ep31 ds3l
CPU-Core 2 duo e6700 2.66ghz OC @3.00ghz
GPU-8800gtx 768mb
Memory-1 stick of PNY 2GB ddr2 6400 & 1 stick of PNY 1GB ddr2 5300

Oh and can you use an old ata ide hdd on a new type mobo that usually takes s-ata hdd's?

Thanks

vsync on or off?

Although it sounds more like LOD issues. Does arma2 use the unreal 3 engine?

Sounds like your graphics memory might be struggling to keep up with all the textures. Is that 8800GTX using DDR2 or GDDR3 memory?

If it has an IDE port yes. Most only have 1 IDE port now rather than 2 like they almost all used to have.

Oh and just abit of advice is it worth upgrading from a Gigabyte ep31 ds3l to a XFX nForce 750i SLI Socket 775 ??

Anyway so that computer will detect the HDD in the bios but when im trying to install vista the computer cant find it or detect its even there? Iv got an IDE lead coming from the dvd-rom into the HDD then to the mobo and iv got the dvd-rom as the first boot up device then the HDD second in the bios, would it matter which way round i put the master/slave pins on the backs of them?

Thanks

Since you're using IDE, are your master/slave configurations correct? I think the hard drive should be the master and the cd/dvd rom the slave.
