 Re: NVIDIA GeForce GT 230, any good? There will be a bottleneck, but since its a quad it wont be THAT bad. Generally core2 chips need to run at around 3.6-4.0ghz to see a bottleneck go away, but you'll be fine.

| Re: NVIDIA GeForce GT 230, any good? Something low-end. But then it wont even be worth it. You might as well get a card thats going to give you enough performance where the bottleneck doesn't really matter.

| Re: NVIDIA GeForce GT 230, any good? since the q8300 has a very low multiplier (7.5) even with a new mobo ill only be able to 0C it to about 3.5 stable or so I've discovered. if i go this route(new mobo) with a 4870 will their still be a slight bottleneck? |

Im sure you could get more than 3.5 out of a q8300 if you get some decent cooling and midranged ram. This is the problem with buying pre-builts is you find out you need to upgrade EVERYTHING in order to do what you really want to. I hope you know you would have to upgrade the power supply as well(more than likely). the 4670 wouldn't have a bottleneck but games might suffer with AA on and things of the sort since its roughly the same speed as a 3870 (which is half as fast as a 4870)

| Re: NVIDIA GeForce GT 230, any good? Unless you got the rig for under $300 I wouldn't consider it a deal you couldn't pass  are you planning on running crossfire? If not that 650w might be a bit too much. Also, nice choice of choosing corsair.
