| ok Kow, you suggested this card - Newegg.com - POWERCOLOR AX4870 1GBD5 Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards - is POWERCOLOR a reliable version of this? I have never heard of it, is there any way to tell if its going to have an obnoxiously loud fan?

| Yes, powercolor is a reliable brand. They make solid stuff to say the very least.

| It's not gonna be loud unless you get it up past 60%

| Ok, it looks like thats what ima go with! Thanks so much! I read some reviews online and its looking really nice... my only concern is still the fan noise but I suppose I can just live with it or get in the habbit of shutting it off at night if it starts waking me up

| It would be a good idea to turn it off at night anyway, there's no point in leaving it on the whole time, that just increases your electric bill. As for fan noise, trust me it's not that loud, I've got my 4890 at 43% fan speed and I can barely hear it over my five case fans.

| You could always just open up ATI Overdrive and set the fan speed lower. It won't be a problem as long as its just at idle.

| Or you could always set a rivatuner profile to make it run extremely low at idle and ramp up alot at load.

| Hi, I have also purchased a pre-built system similar to the 0P's but i have a q8300 processor (4MB cache) so I no OC'ing it wont be possible, they both (q8300 & q9300) run @ 2.5ghz but the q9300 has a L2 Cache of 6mb. I am also interested in the PowerCooler HD4870 Kow_Ciller recommended him. Would their be any bottleneck with the q8300? Thanks in advanced for any input.
