Laptop Screen Issue.

I have a tech question.

I have an Acer Laptop: Aspire 5100-3583. Its about 2-3 years old. Has a AMD Turion 64 and Shared Memory ATI Graphics Card. None of that really matters I suppose.

My problem is about a month ago, some gray lines appeared at the top of the screen. They were very thin, and almost un-noticable. Recently, they have become more abundant and thicker. And now there is on right smack dab in the middle of my screen. These are horizontal lines, not vertical. Also, they don't seem to be dead pixels.

This laptop is not my main rig, but it is a convience on trips and at school. I dont have the money to pay for a new one at the moment. And its got alot of stuff I need on it.

I was wondering if there is something wrong with the LCD itself or the inverter for the screen. I have taken it apart and the connections are all good. The screen itself is bright and does not flicker. I will try to get some pics up when I find my camera. Any Advice or help would be awesome! :bows:

Thanks, Sorrow.

Sounds like something is overheating.

Artifacting maybe? That would mean your graphics card is overheating. Usually though that results in pixels flicking here and there, not lines like you're saying. Though they can really cause any graphical annomally.

Try running your laptop in the coolest room you know of, see if the screen still does that.

I actually think it's a dieing screen.
Lines tend to be one of the signs of it.

I normally run a laptop cooler on it. One of those underneath fan-type things. My room is rather cool normally, right around 71-72. I honestly think its dieing myself.
