Now granted CryTek didn't exactly help matters by calling a one click setting that puts everything at one level "Optimal", capping video memory to 256MB, and not having motion blur removable until it was patched in, but still, most players have just lost their common sense over this issue.

It's not like the game is impossible to get to run well on moderate spec, there's tons of info out there about it, including a very good TweakGuide. It actually takes a little time to read sound advice though, vs wildly speculating and exaggerating based on the common rants thrown about.

That kind of flamish gossip is what console players just eat up. It has many if not most of them assuming, not knowing mind you, that PCs and PC games are just too much trouble. Thus they use it to feel content they are on the right platform.

Everyone should break out of their shell and grow up and learn the truth at some point.

You shouldn't have to get a tweak guide if you have a very top end machine, that would just piss me off and make me think I wasted my money. I am a PC gamer though, I do like consoles but not as much. You have to agree, Crysis is a shit game, the only thing it has for it is the graphics. Story line is poor, gameplay has been done before, story is short, and has almost no replayability whatsoever even with multiplayer.

Well, you could look at it the other way and say that if you spent that much money, then surely you would welcome any extra performance for no cost.

Then again there's plenty of games that simply don't have such a guide and wouldn't benefit much if any if they did, due to lack of optimization and/or usable commands. As much of a technical marvel Crysis is with graphics, physics and effects, it's not surprising such a guide exists. What is surprising though is that one simple suggestion to use so called "Optimal" settings, which really only simplifies the process to that which a two yr old can perform, has so many people too lazy to do a little careful settings choices of their own. That's all it really takes to make the game run much better even on mediocre spec, and it still looks fine. In fact that's how I did it until I read the guide, which just helped me further fine tune the game.

I don't agree at all that Crysis is a shit game. It's length was shorter than I'd hoped for and some of the map sections reused, but other than that it was pretty darn good. I can't comment on mp because I've not played it, I pretty much only play sp anymore. To me what's a waste is to get into the PC platform to the extent of high end gear, then piss and moan when games like Crysis come along because a "one size fits all" setting doesn't suit your performance expectations. If you're gonna play with big boy toys, at least learn how to tweak the high tech games you play on it. Most that buy high end gear learn a fair amount about it, yet you still have many of them whining about games like Crysis because one click doesn't result in ideal performance with the settings. JEEZ, I could go on and on about this, but I think you get my point.

Not all have your reaction to my settings advice. In fact most are glad to learn about such options because they know it's a game worth sticking with despite a slight performance tweak learning curve. Koroush only does TweakGuides for the more popular games that CAN be tweaked, pretty much THE most popular games. Just look at this list and tell me you can say these are all shit games because they shouldn't have to have a TweakGuide written for them. Often times the games on his list can also be modded easily, and Crysis is one of them. Sandbox 2 is very easy to use, one of the best game editors. You'll actually have to learn a bit about it to use it though, something way too many people seem deathly afraid of.

Uh, that was me, Babeman was the one complaining about having to read one to get better performance. ;)

I didn't at all complain about reading a tweak guide. I said you 'shouldn't' have to read one if you have top end parts. Read comments before you post shit that I haven't said.
